Tree Surgeons
- John Wingfield (18th Feb 2008 12:01:03)
I wonder whether anybody can recommend a reasonably priced tree surgeon for the removal of a sycamore tree.
Many thanks,John...

John -
To cover yourself, call EHDC at Penn's Place, and ask them to give you the list of qualified and approved tree surgeons. Then you know you are employing someone who's insured. They may have the list online now.
Also, bear in mind that a lot of trees in the Parish have TPOs on them - sometimes even quite small trees. Check before you start the cutting/pruning!
Good luck.

John,
I am not sure if mentioning specific companies is allowed on this site but here goes.
I have previousley used Green Frontiers who are a Liphook based firm, who are fully insured, do a very thorough and professional job. They also ensure that all works is done within the regulations of the local authority tree preservation officer. What also imprssed me about their work is that they fully clear up afterwards and don't leave the customer with work to do after they have been.
They would be able to provide many local references and you will find them very approachable.
Hope that helps ........................ Nigel

Next door had a large oak tree taken down by Green Frontiers, and as Nigel has said they were very professional, and as I understand fully insured etc. We even asked for some logs for our open fire and they were more than willing.

We got that list from EHDC a couple of years ago and have used Graham Taylor a number of times since then.
He has a number of staff - all polite and knowledgable and his rates are very good.
Last time we got some bark chippings to mulch the garden too!
I don't know his number off hand - but it is on the recommended list from EHDC

Just to say we too have used Graham Taylor from Headley and would thoroughly recommend him and his team.
Very efficient, polite, clean and tidy and, we felt, good value.

My husband is a local tree surgeon and struggling against the might of Green Frontiers and their 'we'll even cut your grass' approach to tree surgery.
He is fully insured and will only quote on work he can physically do. He should be cheaper than GF as he is a sole outfit and doesn't have to pay out of lots of vans/staff etc but is happy to negotiate.
If you still need help call him (Matt/Tree Fella) on 01428 727185.
