Car or bike - Local Resident (23rd Jun 2023 - 07:41:43) Is anyone else be disturbed at night by a car or bike racing round the Haslemere Road area going really fast with an exhaust which pops or backfires it seems to be a regular occurance through the night!!!!

If it is this same car then please report to the police. "Regarding this loud car speeding around Haslemere regularly. I’ve just reported it to Surrey Police and have been advised for anyone who sees or hears it to report on 999 using the crime number 1212 of 15th June. They said they will send someone out to try and catch them as they agreed that someone could end up being killed." "Was there mention a while ago of a black Ford fiesta zipping around haslemere with an incredibly loud exhaust? Just gone up and down High Lane and my god I didn't realise it was THAT loud! I thought it was a car crash at first. Does anyone have any information?"

Re: Car or bike - D (24th Jun 2023 - 15:03:17) I have seen and heard this vehicle on several occasions and it's not as bad as people on this website lead us to believe. There are plenty of quieter cars along this stretch of road travelling at a similar speed. The point I am making (which a couple seem to have overlooked) is that a noisy exhaust or a speeding vehicle do not warrant an emergency 999 call.

Re: Car or bike - Helen (24th Jun 2023 - 17:02:11) Cars are accelerating very fast in a low gear from the 60 zone on London Rd very late at night and lifting off their throttles to retard their potentially illegal modified engines. Some are making very loud bangs which are very antisocial and frightening to pets/wildlife. I have not witnessed this little black Fiesta. But I have witnessed a very distinctive Black BMW M2 ( G@ private number plate) making very loud exhaust bangs entering the 30 zone on London Rd. However this car actually may be unmodified thus legal. So if he’s not speeding Plod probably can’t do anything.

With all that's going on in the world who knows what the future holds for these young men, let them have a little late night fun with their cars like we used to, it's not like the old days when getting your driving licence set you free, driving nowadays isn't the freedom it used to be for youngsters with all the cameras and speed traps and now irate people dialling 999 because they moved onto a busy road and the young men dare pop their exhausts when no one's about, I have some sympathy but seriously, why did you think your houses are on average 25% cheaper than a comparable one on a quiet street and always have been since the introduction of the motor car? Anyway, these are blokes, we can't keep them like we keep our pet pooches, all locked up quietly in the house, clipped, shampooed, tagged and sent off once a day with some local unemployed 18 year old girl for a half hour walk in the woods (well ok they may not necessarily mind that last one😂😂)
