Sort of a Thankyou NHS
- LetdowNHS (14th Jul 2023 - 18:44:52)

Senior doctors have gone on reckless strikes and got rewarded a handsome pay rise which will increase inflation.
Well done!

Now that we pay you more, now that we have been paying for facilities (surgeries, inflated management and expensive inefficient appointments systems) for what should be used 24/7, will you actually see patients weekends, evenings etc?

If extra hours aren't to your liking, how about less hours spent on chaotic admin and medical misdiagnosis?

BTW, the military who don't have the NHS's bad track record, and who aren't allowed to strike they have had a pathetically smaller pay rise... Fair deal?

Very grateful to our NHS. They do fantastic work under challenging conditions. They deserve a pay rise. (No, I don’t work for them).

OP - may be worth turning your grievances more to things like the 19 year old footballers apparently worth £183m…

They have gone on strike because their pay hasn't kept up with inflation-simple as that. They are as entitled to strike as anyone else. The people in the NHS aren't the problem-its underfunding relative to the increasing demands on it is the problem. We are getting older, fatter and less active and expecting the health service to pick up the pieces.

Passfield Resident no one can escape getting older it is a fact of life! The NHS is a hugely wasteful organisation. They employ a lot of temps from agencies instead of training their own staff, also for admin work and non medical consultants at the rate of between 600 and 800 pounds a day each.

Let down NHS, I do agree re the military who deserve every penny they receive and much much more. I would however like to point out that there are many other roles in the NHS other than doctors, all of whom do an amazing job and do very much deserve any pay rise they get. I would like to remind you of the incredible work they did throughout the pandemic and the backlog that they are expected clear as a result of those years.

Surgeries, if you mean GP surgeries, are not actually part of the NHS. They are all private businesses that have contracts with the NHS which is entirely different. They do not get this pay rise and neither do their staff who already work extremely long hours, many for minimum wage. Remember too, that they were integral along with the NHS in planning and delivering all the Covid vaccines whilst still trying to care for their patients.

A report has shown business greed has caused over 50% of inflation. Don’t be sold down the river by inflation being due to salary increases. We all need to stand up against the propaganda, it is not political, Tory, labour Lib Dem voters need to stand up together

Who the hell do you think you are! Having worked in the NHS for nearly 30 years I can not tell you the stress, dedication, emotional heartbreak that every nurse and doctor nd the rest of the NHS goes through EVERY day. The NHS Is in a state because of lack of funding. Not because of the nurses or doctors. You will never understand what we see, do or give every day. The tears the heart break of politics out of our control.
Go live in America and then comment. You have no idea how lucky the UK is.
Of course we all hear horror stories, we know of waiting times and all weekdays wrong with the NHS, but don't for one minute think doctors, nurses and all who dedicate themselves don't deserve more money and acknowledgement.
I will not reply again, so say what you will.
