Headley Road break in
- Matt (13th Aug 2023 - 09:24:57)

Just to remind you to be vigilant. Garage door was forced open last night, electric mountain bike stolen (bolt cutters used on the lock). Targeted attack, nothing else taken (there were a couple of other normal bikes next to it)

Our camera picked up 3 young men with torches by our garage and shed at 1 am this morning on Berg estate. Nothing taken but have reported it to the police.

I had my garage broken into last night and an expensive road bike stolen. This too was on the Berg estate in Liphook.
It would be useful to see if anyone has any video footage in the area.

I wouldn’t go as far as they do to thieves in some eastern countries, not to cut a hand off. But maybe a finger. Each time?

Mary W:
Sounds like a good compromise, except that in those 'eastern countries' the offender alone will suffer for the amputation. In this country the amputee will be invited to become a burden on taxpayers money and NHS awaiting patients...

Before we dispense our own social media concocted ideas of justice I think we should be more concerned about the fact yet another man was released from prison recently after serving nearly twenty years for a crime he didn't commit. Your ideas of punishment are all very well, Mary, so long as you get the right person. How many more innocent people are languishing in U.K. prisons?

Interesting how as a nation we condemn the policies of the Islamic countries and their Sharia law, but when we suffer a minor theft the savage within us surfaces, demanding people have hands and fingers chopped off. We thought we were so civilized.

'Civilised' entails law abiding. Call it a "minor" crime (no such thing) is not law abiding. Therefor, criminals should be excluded from civilised society and it's rules.

Hi,
Every school holiday period in Liphook crime rises. Youths are stealing for financial gain. This is not opportunism, this is organized theft, with little chance of prosecution. A lot of valuable Bikes etc, are not secure enough at home to stop intruders, easy steal's.
