DAFFODILS IN THE HASLEMERE ROAD
- LOTTIE (3rd Mar 2024 - 11:48:48)
It has happened again. I'm so upset snd angry. With such mindless destruction and the vile littering which is getting worse by the day, I am in despair.

Singularly depressing all round. Any thoughts out there on how to curb this mindless vandalism?
Regards

Grayshott had these problems in the 1980's.
A vigilante group of like minded residents who were sick of vanadalism, anti social behaviour, and drug issues sorted it out.
It has not reocurred to the best of my knowledge.
Not to everyone's taste.

Yes penny correct. And it seems that people in liphook turn a blind eye to bad behaviour instead of confronting the perpetrators or reporting it to the schools. Years ago if we misbehave the school got involved and we had a right dressing down and the parents were called in . Parents need to step up and control their children you see children roaming the streets late at night what are the parents doing. And don’t say the poor little darlings have nothing to do rubbish there is an enormous amount for youngsters to do if they have a mind to .

According to replies on the previous post on this it’s the law to use the word daffodils in every reply, I see some of you didn’t use the word daffodils so beware.
I will stick to the new rules by using daffodils in the following sentence.
“As well as daffodils being vandalised the single most expensive waste of money to ever occur in Liphook was the skatepark which was destroyed along with the daffodils around it, good job we won’t ever be getting another one either for they cost 200k and the last one was a hell hole. Now we have a nice space to plant daffodils in its place”

How do we know kids are doing this? What would be the point of telling their school if it was kids? They aren't doing it while they are in school. As for confronting people, I'm not sure I'd confront someone stupid enough to do this sort of thing. I'd favour a few more cameras around the place. It's not pleasant to have cameras watching us, but it would help stop anti-social behaviour. If I was a parent and found out that my child did something like this, I would be down on them like a ton of bricks. Less vigilanteeism and more vigilance would help.

Why not more cameras? I don't care if I am going about my normal, legal, (boring) life and find I'm on camera.
Fact is no-one will ever look at the footage unless some crime or misdemeanour has been perpetrated. Even then, unless I'm clearly involved in the offence, I won't be interviewed by the police or appear on Crimewatch.
We live in a hi-tech age where criminals, vandals and ne'er-do-wells use mobile phone and social media technology to further their selfish aims. As responsible citizens, we need to rise to their challenge and accept that CCTV and other hi-tech systems are necessary to maintain some level of decent law and order.
My 2 cents' worth.

Drove home tonight about 9pm and disgusting litter in lay-by near Radford Park-tonnes of it. Absolutely infuriating.
