The Proposed new National Service by the Conservative Party - PR (29th May 2024 - 10:30:03) According to the ONI, the number of 18 year olds in the United Kingdom is estimated to be just under 800,000. The Conservative Party are proposing 30,000 places for some kind of Military activity, which equates to 3.75 % of this age group, the remainder must take up voluntary work. How could this ever be implemented, and at what additional cost, never mind the raft of objections that would be raised for multiple reasons. I am not against service to the community, but this has not been thought through. National Service was long gone when I was that age, but for three years I was a Cadet, it was without doubt one of the best things I ever did, and far far better than School

Neither party appeals to the average middle of the road citizen
