This beautifully decorated property certainly brings joy to the village square. Very many thanks to the new occupants. Welcome to Liphook and thank you for your community spirit.

We absolutely agree, a beautiful addition to The Square.

You will also have seen that Liphook in Bloom have put lights in the trees around The Square. These also look beautiful!

The Parish Council, each year, put up Christmas lights in The Square and they are currently absent. This is due to a change of contractor and the old contractor not returning our Christmas lights in time.

We have been working really hard to get this rectified and lights will be going up tomorrow (Friday) or next Monday at the very latest.

We hope then that The Square will look really festive and match the very high standard set by No 5.

Do we know if there’s going to be a Christmas tree this year that would certainly set it off .

I understand there will be no Christmas tree in The Square this year as the previous sponsor has moved out of the area.
Also, last year, the huge tree blew over in a storm and broke the holding mechanism. We are lucky to have had such generosity and coming together of community spirited volunteers who provided us with a tree for several years.

Such a shame carri it really was a great start to Christmas. Perhaps some local businesses and our council could combine to sponsor a tree I see LIB have done a great job with lights again and they were involved with the tree but they can’t do it all on their own .

Why should businesses fund the communities Christmas?, perhaps it would be more appropriate for an increase in the council tax to pay for a tree? It seems a sizeable proportion of people seem to think all businesses are fat cat and have money to burn. I can tell you from experience, running a business in today’s economic and political climate is extremely challenging!

Sorry Steve didn’t mean to presume business were flush having run a business in liphook for 35 years before I retired and sponsored several things I now it’s hard but that’s why I said perhaps several might be able to get together to make it happen. But never mind it was just a thought.
