Goodwill to all - Les (27th Dec 2024  15:33:18) At last, there is progress on the 'new' shops in London Road, opposite the Green Dragon. The boarding on the windows, has been removed and the new large windows exposed. Signs of life within, presumably fitting out for the retail use we have been waiting for. The buildings look pleasant and are in harmony with the village. A happy event for Liphook! Then, within 24 hours, someone has heaved a brick / stone / projectile at the large laminated window, destroying it. What sort of society have we created? Happy Christmas.

Re: Goodwill to all - AF (28th Dec 2024  19:59:11) Does anyone know what the shop/retail unit will be for. We obviously need an estate agent or turkish hairdresser. Or perhaps we can go the way of most shopping areas and get a vape shop.

Re: Goodwill to all - Lorac (29th Dec 2024  13:22:05) In reply to Les and the incident re shop windows being smashed, the sort of society we have now is one where there is no shame or facing consequences any more. If this act was done by youngsters (not known as yet) they have obviously not been admonished as small children. It's no wonder teachers have problems with discipline in schools if these people regard vandalism almost as a right; they have not been taught that each of us has a responsibility to one another; that wilfully destroying another's property is, in my eyes, a crime; but this is what we are seeing daily on the news. As adults we should be setting good examples, but most of what youngsters see now are adults behaving like vandals.
