Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (27th Mar 2025 - 09:51:30)

Just had a notification about turning iron hill into a sangs . Think this is a way of opening up the chicken Farm and Highfield land for development they can site that sangs as theirs the chicken farm can’t supply their own so a back door way to get development approval very suspicious. Any development on that side of liphook before there is road improvements to get to the A3 ie ring road should NOT take place.

I always thought the developer was required to PROVIDE a site of alternative natural green space, not just nominate something that is already there. I'm obviously wrong.

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (27th Mar 2025 - 12:22:51)

Yes D they tried to do the same with Radford Park make that a sangs so any developer on a 5 mile radius could give a small donation and claim it as their sang they were rumbled and the community said no way to our park .

I remember the same cohort proposing Radford Park as a sang some time back. The 600 houses application mentions an area near the Black Fox.

What bothers me more about any development nearby, is who will be given the affordable housing?

Our Govt has stated in the last 72 hours that certain groups of people would likely be given a higher priority than others in accessing new build affordable housing.

If I recall, 27 of the proposed houses on this site are 'affordable'.

I am not convinced the children of Liphook residents would be given that same priority.

The dinghy/pedalo gang will get housed before locals thanks to this government.

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (27th Mar 2025 - 19:53:45)

Trouble is these developers don’t care who lives in their houses all they want is a nice little earner. They will try anything to get permission. It all boils down to where is the best place for houses in liphook to safeguard our centre from the huge increase of traffic. It’s certainly not to build houses on that side of liphook yet . If the chicken farm and high field want to build hundreds of houses they must put a road system in first to The A3 around liphook centre. Probably put a huge dent in their profits but that’s the name of the game.

Lets face it with the current government going hell bent for house building as they only way to balance the books, this proposal or one like it will go ahead.

I hope you're sending your comments to EHDC, SDNPA, WSCC and the parish councils as well as airing your views here or they are meaningless

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (28th Mar 2025 - 14:48:58)

Yes local quite right don’t think the people of liphook realise what all this means for liphook. If development goes ahead on that side of liphook then it’s goodbye to our lovely village centre it’s bad enough now. We must try to protect what little we have left it’s all very well the SDNP making parks and rural areas but they don’t seem to realise what damage they are doing to the centre of communities. Take for example Bohunt Manor they set the boundary on the wrong side of that piece of land 500 metres from our centre which is a conservation area in doing so completely ruining our centre. And they are supposed to protect conservation areas can’t see much of that in liphook.

- Rupert (28th Mar 2025 - 16:10:21)

It will be an awful shame if another socially deprived area is created in this newly proposed development. Each time I walk past the land between Midhurst Rd and Winnipeg Close I feel sympathy for the poor in our society. There were two men begging on Midhurst Rd across from Sainsburys last week.
Why doesn't someone do something to help the children of these ghettos?

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Sally (28th Mar 2025 - 17:03:05)

@ Rupert, unfortunately most of the unemployable in the area seem to have been housed by the state is this small area of land adding to the social problems locally. They can be seen hanging around with their hands down their tracksuit joggers and messy beards.

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (28th Mar 2025 - 17:43:53)

Rupert think you’re not up to speed the sangs is an open space going to be created on already common land. These spaces have to be created when a development takes place funded by the developers they can’t go ahead without one so the have to find land for it close by. That’s what this is all about The chicken farm and Highfield school land wants to develop all that land around Highfield lane not good for the centre of liphook because there is no way to get all that traffic to the A3 only through the square. Think you need to look at what EHDC are planning to do. As for beggars and deprived children not seen any myself around here. But the houses that will be built won’t be for those people they will be high end market to maximise profit. I think the land you said you were walking on is the millennium green our village green .

As others have said here - we HAVE to make sure our local voices are heard about any developments that will alter the shape and makeup of our area.

Let your MP know your concerns, object formally to PP, keep being vocal. We're in a fight for our local way of life, and have to prevent unwarranted development that will change our small town as we know (and love) it.

You will have no right to complain in the future if you don't make your voice known right now.

Re: Iron hill sangs
- Concerned (29th Mar 2025 - 11:13:07)

Yes paul2 the proposal put forward for Bohunt Manor land by SDNP and EHDC includes a traveler site. When challenged at the meeting at the church centre the representative was astonished that we already have over 20 travellers sites in the liphook area and NOT ONE in petersfield. Our county councillor was amazed at learning that . So we have to be very vigilant about planning by the so called people that are supposed to know everything. As said any development on that side of liphook should be not take place until a road system to the A3 is in place.

- Joe (29th Mar 2025 - 12:33:25)

Affordable housing is different to social housing affordable housing is usually blocks of flats or small houses who are owned outright by a housing association such as clarion, who then offer these properties either for rent or leasehold and the leasehold properties are a split ownership with the housing association usually owning up to 25 percent of the leasehold. They are offered in the same way as open market housing but cheaper as they have to be owned for two years I think before the co owner can sell it. As the housing associations need to earn a decent rent from the houses I think they do not operate a system where anyone either local or immigrant gets a house given to them - that would only be social housing run by the councils.

Either way if you can’t afford to support and maintain a family you shouldn’t be having anymore!
I’m amazed at the beardy boys. If they had to work and pay I don’t think they’d keep reproducing more offspring.
If after having one child the state is fully supporting you and your offspring then it should be tubes tied and the snip!
