Are we eating fish from Russia?
- Lorac (8th Apr 2025 - 09:10:17)

In the i newspaper this week(Saturday 5 th April) I read an article about Russia selling large stocks of fish to the UK through other countries ,namely Netherlands and China. Companies such as Lidl, Iceland Youngs and even Birds Eye are buying this fish and selling under their own label. Lidl say they do not buy Russian fish but the fish is sold to other countries and from there is imported into UK. We are unwittingly fuelling Putin’s war chest. Are we being ripped off and lied to by large food companies? Time for us to support only British food producers. Russian and American food imports should now be taboo.

Russia Use big factory ships freeze it onboard
Sometimes buy it from other countries direct from boats
We catch fish in uk but most go overseas no market for lot of it here

I feel we have bigger problems than worrying about whether we eat Russian fish!

Not long ago the media were saying the EU was corrupt and trying to steal our sovereignty, our borders, our bananas etc, the majority of people voted to leave 'Europe' (as little as they understood it!)

Just recently everyone here was saying 'Ukraine must fight till they win' and 'we can't trust China' and we shouldn't buy Chinese tech and we must fight Iran and god knows what else!

Today everyone is saying we mustn't buy American goods and China is valiantly standing up for freedom of trade and it's important that Germany re-arms as fully and quickly as possible to defend Europe😂😂😲

What are we going to be saying tomorrow? If we jump into every foreign political dispute we'll end up going mad or worse, waking up in WWIII.

So yes, the mass slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent young men on both sides over a dispute in the Donbass or somewhere is important, the Russians shouldn't have invaded, also Ukraine and NATO shouldn't have been vague about positioning evil nuclear weapons in Ukraine on Russia's border, but lets wish a swift peace settlement upon them, which may be one of the few positive things Trump may yet be able to actually do!

Meanwhile, while it's still lawful here, I'll worry about eating the food I can afford, while I still can!
