Drs Surgery
- Jacky (22nd Jan 2013 - 08:31:16)

Can anyone suggest a good Drs Surgery in or near Liphook. At the moment we are with the Liphook and Liss surgery near the station and they are dreadful. The receptionists are always incredibly unfriendly and GP's just don't seem to care very much about their patients.

Thanks

Can't disagree with you more. Have been with them for many years and have always found the doctors incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable and wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

I don't understand how you can say that the Liphook & Liss surgery in Liphook is bad. We have been with them for 6 years and never once been let down by any of the doctors or receptionists. We in fact always comment on how extremely helpful & friendly they all are.

I have been with surgery behind Lloyds bank, Villages Surgery, for 47 years, and have always had a good and satisfactory service with them, indeed over the last 7 weeks having recently lost my husband I have had excellent support from them and would be happy to recommend them.

I wouldn't want to go anywhere else but 'Liphook Village Surgery' behind Lloyds bank. I have always had an excellent rapport with Dr Hobbs and all the receptionists have always been very pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend my surgery to anyone.

I too recommend Liphook Village Surgery. Dr Hobbs is lovely and she is always willing to listen and has a caring approach and I feel she is interested in me as a person rather than what i am there for medically. Receptionists have always been great too and have always tried to accommodate my needs.
Good service all round I say

Jo

Have to agree, I can highly recommend Liphook Village Surgery. Doctors, and staff all extremely helpful and have never had to wait long for an appointment. Used their online service for ordering prescription the other day via email and the very next morning received confirmation and an hour later, another message to say the prescription was ready to collect - very efficient.

In my experience, Station Rd ALL staff can do much more to be more friendly and efficient.

I have been with Liphook and Liss surgery for 30 years and always received extremely good professional help and friendly service from everyone. My experiences are the envy of many relaives and friends.
I suggest that critics should re-examine their motives ,behaviour and expectations, bearing in mind that chuch is the place for miracles.

I am new to this surgery, and have found the receptionists and Doctors to be fine. The only thing I don't like is that any one sitting in the waiting room can hear your business, as it is not the best layout!

It's hard to be discreet when people are in such close proximity to the desk.

I have been with Liphook and Liss surgery for years formally know as Newtown! I think the reason they are now getting this bad press is due to the new stupid procedure they have in place. For years I have phoned and if I am ill they have given me an appointment same day and have been much better than other surgeries. Their new procedure is that when you phone and would like an appointment because you are ill that day because as we all know you do not know in advance if you are going to be ill, you are then told that the doctor will phone you back to see if they need to see you that day which of course for those of us that work isn't a great procedure especially if its your child and you need to know a time for an apt before you set off for work. The last time I called I was told this system was better as they now have lots of prebookable apt in advance which as I pointed out to the receptionist was no good to me that day as my son was ill and I needed to know a time before I went to wok to organise my day, maybe we should all book an apt in advance just in case!! I think if they went back to the old system their brillant reputation they always had would be restored. They also use to have Saturday morning apt but not sure if they do that anymore, maybe this also would help.

Well said Tina, I don't like the new booking system. If the Doctor has to phone you back, you can not plan your day out. Being a working Mum I like to know what time the appointment is before setting off for work.

I know that receptionists can seem a little 'obstructive' at times but part of their job is the protection of the GP's woirking time. That said, they should never be rude or insist on knowing your personal medical issues which you obviously would only want to discuss with a GP.

All GP's surgeries are going to be inspected under the Essential Outcomes of Quality and Safety (these outcomes are linked to the 28 regulations in the Health and Social Care Act.) The inspections will be facilitated by The Care Quality Commission. This programme of inspections will begin in April 2013 but i would think complaints and concerns can be raised before then. The inspections are patient focussed and examine the experience a patient has. They will look at policies and processes but they will also ask to speak to patients.

If you have concerns about any experience you have with a GP surgery you could first try and raise it with the practice manager and if you have no satisfaction you can lodge a complaint with The Care Quality Commission (CQC). GP surgeries should seek patient feedback and be able to evidence how they have responded to that feedback. At the end of the day the surgeries are businesses and need \'customer\' goodwill and support.

www.cqc.org.uk

The CQC website is also very useful if you want to find out if they have raised concerns about Care Homes and Nursing Homes, this will be of interest to anyone considering any kind of care for a family or friend. They also inspect domicillary care providers (home care organisations) . As a society we should all feel a moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable in our communities, if the minors, elderly, disabled or sick are witnessed to be receiving support which fails to meet their needs it needs to be highlighted.

Below is Outcome 1:

Outcome 1: Respecting and involving people who use services
People should be treated with respect, involved in discussions about their care and treatment and able to influence how the service is run.

As best practice GP surgeries should hold a log of complaints and compliments which without a doubt CQC will be interested in. So, if a surgery has gone the extra mile and made a positive difference you could find the time to write a brief note saying so. (that would be so much easier if you could email them!!)

I suppose what I am saying is , don\'t rush leave a surgery where you have had a bad experience , look to change the future experiences for all patients by raising your concerns appropriately.
