Housing Forum

Parish Councillor Simon Coyte will be chairing next week’s Housing Forum public meeting on Tuesday 22 July. The meeting starts at 8pm and will be at the Parish Office, The Haskell Centre, top of Midhurst Road.

Simon will be joined by Ian Ellis (Head of Planning Control at East Hampshire District Council) and the question being posed to start the discussion is: Can the planning system be used to control the balance of future housing stock in the parish? Local estate agent John Hilder from Keats Hilder, will be giving a local agents’ perspective on how market trends can influence development.

Simon has a fair bit of experience as a Parish Councillor, having been involved in the planning committee for some years. He expects Tuesday to be an interesting evening and encourages parishoners to come along and join in the debate. “Concern has been expressed that the village is becoming dominated by four and five-bedroom houses,” says Simon. “The Forum will review the current situation and look ahead to what might happen, and indeed what should happen.”
