Boilers - Karen (18th Sep 2013 - 13:16:48) Hi Can anybody recommend someone to install a new boiler please? I prefer to use recommended people rather than just calling in British Gas! Thank you K

He's just been to fix my dishwasher and dripping tap and has left my kitchen lovely and tidy (probably cleaner than it was before he got here!) Re: Boilers - simon (23rd Sep 2013 - 19:56:15) We've been after some quotes for a boiler replacement. We decided to get three 'local' quotes and one from an unnamed national brand - ok, British Gas. Of the three 'locals', only one bothered following up their site visit with an actual quote, which was about 75% more expensive than BG. As a small business owner myself I try to use fellow small suppliers when I can, but am not impressed with the 'local' response we've had so far. Maybe I'll try a few recommended above (although not naming names, I may have done already).

Re: Boilers - Lisa (24th Sep 2013 - 12:35:43) When we replaced ours last year, I got 3 local firms in to quote and they were all very expensive and one didnt even bother to send in the quote. Then I looked on Checkatrade and found the number of a firm based in Havant prepared to come up the A3 to work here. Worked out perfectly and saved us £1200 over the cheapest local quote. The owner of the company couldn't believe the prices we were being quoted by local firms!
