Guide Camp Success
The Camp was one of the best yet. Held just west of Salisbury near Stoford on Salisbury plain . 29 girls aged 10 to 14 and 10 older Girls plus adults camped last week for 7 nights (from Saturday 26/7).
All cooking was carried out as always on an openfire with camping gas rings for backup.
Activities included a 10 mile hike to Stonehenge, Horse riding with lessons in grooming, Swimming, camp crafts, evening camp fire get together with traditional guide songs. On Wednesday the girls went by coach to Bournemouth where the weather was perfect. The theme was politeness to the elderly and all the girls did Liphook and the Guide movement proud.
It was Nina "Kim" Kamm's 16th year organising an annual camp and together with Heather Boosey, Ruth Whiting and Claire Jackson everything went without a single hitch apart from the normal homesickness from one or two younger girls in the middle of the week.
The week ended at Saturday lunchtime with presentations to the weeklong competitions for tent tidiness and inter patrol rivalry. The patrol leaders thanked the Guiders followed by dismantling of the equipment which all had tobe transported back to the Millennium Hall for storage and the girls went home safely.
Our thanks to Damian Kamm for providing us with this article.
