Burglaries in Passfield/Conford
- Dawn Hoskins (25th Sep 2008 - 10:02:57)

Just a reminder that as a result of the burglaries, the police are holding a meeting in the Millennium Hall.

Mon 29th September at 7:45pm

This is to offer advice on securing properties etc.

Police are asking that any suspicious or anti-social behaviour has been witnessed, (particularly on 14th September last week) that you contact them a.s.a.p. this can be done by e-mailing Peter.tedder@hampshire.pnn.police.uk or calling the 0845 number.

Hello

I haven't heard anything about these burglaries and I live in Passfield. Please could you let us know what happened?

Hi there,
I don’t know much I’m afraid.

PC Tedder came to see us as they believe the burglars who robbed the house in the new Lyndons road, used my road (Arundel Close) to escape down as it is completely unlit. Pitch black is their colour of choice!!!

This is a direct concern to us as it means they have cut across our garden!

That is all I know I’m afraid. I was going to go to the meeting to find out more.

I can give lifts to anyone wishing to go. Have a 7 seater.

The problem seems to be spreading, we live in Hewshott Lane and have had the house totally ransaked today!

Dawn/Ellen

Thanks so much for your kind offer, it just goes to prove what a great community spirit we have in Liphook.

We are just about back in order now that the police CID including a forensic team have left. I have to say the police have been absolutely fantastic the level of support, concern and genuine interest in investigating the burglary has really taken me by surprise.

The police have asked me to make the local community aware of our burglary and that we should all be more aware of any unusual activity in or around yours or a neighbours property.

I only hope the loss adjusters are just as proactive!

Thanks once again for your offer of some help.

Graham

So sorry to hear of the terrible time you have had...just interested to know if this happened in broad daylight or whilst you were away?

Glad to hear that the police have taken a serious interest and hope that a conviction follows!

Graham & Family

I would like to offer my sympathies over your recent break-in.

I am pleased that you have had help and good co-operation from the Police. You all to often hear the negative side. I know they are under pressure, but hope that they can catch them.

I too, would be interested if it happened day or night. It must be horrific when someone has been into your home, especially while you are sleeping. It reminded me of an incident a few years ago, friends of our family had a break -in, there were 4 Adults and 2 dogs. The night was very windy and heavy rain. The police said that is the best cover for them, as any noise would be put down to branches and things blowing about and foot steps muffled. The dog barked, but the owners took them into their bedroom to 'comfort' them from the noise outside!!.

This was done during daylight hours while we were at work.

New intruder alarm now on order!

Very sorry to hear of the Hewshott incident.

For your information Dawn, the burglar who entered the Lyndons property came in up through Arudel Close and made his exit down the Lyndons, perhaps to a vehicle parked in Arudel Close Lynchborough Road.

In the Lyndons it turned out to be an aggravated burglary, and I believe the police have both a very good description and compelling forensic evidence including DNA so, it should not be too long before he and his associates are detected.

Does anyone know about the Conford burgarly as it is believed to involve the same person?

My hunch is that he is local, known in this area, and probably attended the party in or close to the Warren on the Saturday evening.

I also think that is must be a local. No one else even knows that Arundel Close exists!

I have bought some security light, however, I think that they will be on every 5 minutes due to squirrel / cat / fox activity. But if they make a 'bad penny' think twice then it will be worth it.

It was upsetting to hear that the burglar actually grappled with the home owner, I bet he is sorry to have left so much evidence behind! That is one of the reasons I think it can't be a professional job and just some local lad gone bad.

I think NIkki (councillor) is trying to set up a neighbourhood watch for the area.

Is that correct Nikki?

Did anyone keep the glasses and bottles from the party and test for DNA and fingerprints?
