Hungry horse (the anchor)
- Smiths (26th Dec 2013 - 21:19:36)

Had a delightful Christmas Day lunch with Petra and
her staff. All tables were taken and everything went like clockwork. The food and the atmosphere were lovely and the staff were polite and happy. credit where it's due we were treated really well and thoroughly enjoyed our day

I love The Anchor
The staff are very customer service orientated
and you really get value for money
Three cheers for all of them

We popped in there last Saturday morning for breakfast, I agree the staff are very friendly and customer focused, a lovely atmosphere in there too, beats the links and deers hut any day on price and friendliness. Will only go in the deers hut in the summer after a walk over weavers down and then will only sit in the garden.

Fully agreed...eaten many times in the Anchor...staff are very friendly and the value for money is second to none. I have heard some snobbish remarks among some local people who would rather be seen in the Links or Deers Hut, but I think the Anchor is a wonderful asset to our village.

We went to the HH over Xmas, quite a few times - especially when the power was out, and it was a godsend. Other places we had been in to were not willing to serve outside of their normal hours even though there were many families out there on Xmas eve, with children, and no power. So well done to them - there was a bit of the Blitz spirit in there that afternoon, so I do hope it reflected in their takings. However, the community spirit was the most important thing.
