Water Meter cost Reduction Scheme
- dawn (3rd Jan 2014 - 15:56:09)

Hi all,

On speaking to my neighbour recently, he told me that he had registered for the water metre cost reduction scheme.

I have not heard anything about this. Basically it reduces your bill for a few years if it is higher than is used to be before the metre was fitted.

He said it was on the original paperwork sent by the water company [which I have since lost].

I have contacted S.E.Water (copy email below) but wondered if anyone else knows about it - or has registered for it?

I can't find anything about it on any websites so it doesn't seem that they are promoting it very highly! With 6 of us here I can't imagine my bills will be less - so I am wanting to find out about this before I miss the boat.

Dear South East Water

We have recently had meters fitted. My neighbour tells me he has registered for a scheme which will reduce his bills should they be more expensive due to the metre. He explained that this was a reducing percentage reduction over 3 or so years.

I cannot find the paperwork which was sent telling me about the imminent fitting of my metre, which is apparently where this scheme was advertised, and looking at your website cannot find any mention of it.

Can you please give me the details of this scheme and instructions on how to register for it.

Kind regards
Dawn Hoskins

Translation - metre = meter !

Dawn - I think it is automatic sorted on your bill - no need to register

LOL my computer doesn't like meter it wants to change it to metre!

I'm not so sure that it happens automatically as my neighbour said when he looked at the print it said you HAD to register. If you can find your paperwork can you have a look for me please.

thanks

Hi Dawn,

Mine was done automatically and my monthly direct debit has reduced. I hope it stays that way.

They do it so that the transition from previous method to meter does not impact greatly on previous amount paid and I think it is only done for the first 3 or 4 quarters
