Radford Park Working Party
- Paul Robinson (7th Jan 2014 - 12:22:05)

On Saturday 11th January, yes that's this coming Saturday, at 9.00a.m. friends of Radford Park will meet in the Radford Park car park to commence some t.l.c. to the park.

Work will start initially around the large stones clearing undergrowth and small trees. It is also hoped that there will be time to reduce some of the fallen trees to brushwood which will be burnt.

All are welcome from 9.00am to 1.00pm

Is the wood no good for logs or kindling?

I am sure that there will be some excellent logs but as for kindling, I fancy that the task at hand is to burn the small stuff on site so that we can restore the hedges and fences and open up the pathways as soon as possible.

All volunteers are very welcome, however this is a public open space with a lot of tree damage. Please be aware that for health and safety reasons and public safety this work party will be closely supervised and some areas will be temporarily cordoned off. Thank you for the offers of help and to visitors for their patience and consideration.

In reply to the many offers of help that have been forthcoming we look forward to making inroads into clearing the undergrowth and some of the fallen trees tomorrow morning.

Please note that our insurance cover insists that only chain saw operators who hold a current chain saw proficiency certification will be permitted to operate this equipment on the day.

There will be a couple of approved operators in attendance to cut up fallen wood into cord wood and helpers will be invited to take this wood away as a gesture of thanks for their help.

We meet at nine a.m. in Radford Park Car Park

oh that counts me out of bringing a saw along
sorry

will check if my insurance cover me away from place of work, I have my own public liability insurance for work ??? but not a piece of paper for a chainsaw.

So no chainsaw will have to get the elbow grease out and the old bow saw.

A short note of thanks to those who helped as part of the Radford Park Working Party on Saturday morning.

There were over twenty beavering away and making short work of cutting back the brush and dealing with some of the fallen trees.

The children's climbing area over the great rocks is now clear and open for business.

Once again many thanks to all involved.
