Missing Pussycat
- Jana (16th Jan 2014 - 22:30:29)
Please can the residents of Griggs Green keep an eye out for my lovely cat Milo.
He has not been home for two nights/three days and is not one to miss his three meals per day.
Also he hates the rain!
He is quite a large tom cat, black and white in colour without a collar (He hates them!)
He usually wonders around Pines Road and Hazledene Road off of the old Longmoor Road. Has also been spotted watching the golfers at Old Thorns.
Please can you post on here if you have seen him recently.
Thank you
Jana

Has your pussycat been found now? I am a cat lover and just hate it when they wander off. I hope he has returned to you by now.

Re: Missing Pussycat
- Catty (20th Jan 2014 - 15:10:31)
A note for all - please do not feed a cat if it is not yours. However well intended your actions may be, if you feed someone else's cat it will encourage it to visit more often as it knows it can get extra food and this can cause distress to the owners. It can lead to health problems for the cat itself which may get fat or your food could conflict with a special diet the kitty is on.
It really is quite irresponsible and selfish to feed someone else's cat, although you might not realise this. If you think a cat is not being looked after correctly, please do not feed it but either try and contact the owner or the RSPCA if you're very concerned. But don't feed it.

Dear All,
Sadly our cat has not yet returned home. My children and I are all getting very upset and will be putting up posters tomorrow in our local area.
Pls keep posting any sightings as tomorow he will have been gone for a week :(
Thank you for all of your comments and please do not feed him if you do see him.

I hope your pussy cat returns home soon. I know what it's like when they wander.
Also, to add to Catty's point about not feeding visiting cats, she is right there. Cats are very transparent in their affections and loyalties, and basically go wherever they think a good meal is on offer. If they find good 'digs' a few doors down they will just leave home and move in, and often the home will no nothing.

Hi Jana,
I was at Starbucks today and I did see a black and white cat stroll up to the entrance of Old Thorns walk up the steps and go through the automatic doors! This cat was black and white and I think it's tail looked completely black. It might be a cat that lives there but I couldn't not mention it!

Last week I saw a very large black and white cat following a big torti cat, half way up the longmoor Rd.
Is your boy neutered? He might be chasing girls!

- Friend of Rufus (22nd Jan 2014 - 18:46:01)
Said cat in the post below is named Rufus, and is most definitely a permanent resident at Old Thorns. He is microchipped although has no collar.
He's quite territorial so no other cats generally go close to the building although I have seen several cats hanging around the car park and along the drive way so it may be worth a visit.
I did happen to see a very large black and white cat on a roof by the cobblers in the square today - I noticed him from the car as he was distinctively large. - seems along way from home but cats do venture quite far sometimes.
I hope you find him and will keep my eyes peeled for any other sightings.

Hi Debbie, the cat at Old Thorns is called Rufus (I think) and has been a permanent visitor for some time!! I haven't seen him for a while so glad he is still around :)
Sorry to hear about your cat Janna, hope he returns soon.
Oh and on the point about feeding cats, our neighbours cat moved into ours and we never fed her, we think she wanted some peace from the kids!!

Hi Sarah
Lucky you, but not so your neighbour! Cats do enjoy a quiet life, but who doesn't?

I saw a cat with similar markings up Devils Lane about four days ago. I have not seen this cat around here before. Quite a distance from Longmoor though. Managed to hitchhike a lift ?
Perhaps someone up this neck of the woods can rule this one out. More people aware the more chance of finding him.

I am very pleased to say that a kind man found Milo on the A3 services (He was a bit vague about exactly where he was found) and Milo is now back at home safely with my family.
He looks extremely well and has been fed over the last two weeks as he has come back fatter than before he disappeared!
My children are over the moon as its been a stressful two weeks.
Thank you for all the comments posted whilst he was missing.
And thank you editor for posting Milos photo on talkback.

What wonderful news, I am so happy for you and your family. One of mine disappeared 6 years ago and I still miss him dreadfully.
Let's home he's got the wandering bug out of his system now.

Just to update you all, Milo is now recovering from being microchipped and castrated yesterday.
He's doing well and getting lots of roast chicken and cuddles.
| | Let that be a lesson to all cats, especially males. If you stray for too long the consequences could be painful! |

Very good news Jana, glad to hear Milo is safe and well, Having his bits chopped off should help overcome the itchy feet syndrome, or should that be itchy paws?
You've all had a worrying few days, so he deserves to be pampered silly.

Re: Missing Pussycat
- Andy (30th Jan 2014 - 10:27:04)
Good news - although it does sound like someone was feeding him which is frustrating. I agree with Catty - you really shouldn't feed someone else's cat as you don't know what heartache you're causing elsewhere.
Cats are fickle and will go where they can get their favourite food even if they should only be eating the bland, dried stuff due to health issues.

Re: Missing Pussycat
- Paula (30th Jan 2014 - 19:57:44)
Cat owners please be aware that someone is picking cats up in their car and dropping them off in obscure places.
A Lady lost her cat in Bordon and unfortunately the cat was found dead on the A3 just off Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Another cat was found alive and well in Godalming. This person seems to operate in one area, as a number of cats go missing in a short period of time in one area.
These are just two of the scenarios. The Police are aware of this and are investigating further.

Perhaps not necessarily deliberate. My next door neighbour's cat has very nearly been carted off by several delivery vans due to his extreme nosiness. - Or perhaps that should read 'normal cat curiosity'.
