Julie Felix Sell-out
Friday night saw a sell-out event at the Millennium Centre, as singer and recording artist Julie Felix entertained almost 170 local people. The two-hour show was sold out days before the event and the Centre's managers were delighted with the audience's reaction to Julie Felix. Julie stayed on for almost an hour after the show, to meet fans and sign photographs and CDs and to chat with old and new fans.
Liphook Millennium Centre Management Committee Vice Chairman, Councillor Freddie Dawkins, said after the event: "Coming so soon after the excellent public support we received from the John Pilkington lecture "Up the Mekong to Tibet", I and all the members of the LMCMC are delighted that parishoners are showing their support for the Centre and the entertainment calendar we are developing.
"During Friday evening, I was approached by a member of a leading British jazz group, asking if they could perform at the Centre, and I have also been contacted by several booking agents, anxious to have their acts appear at the Centre. The acoustics and facilities in the Centre are first class, and the Parish Council wants to develop and extend the range of entertainment we offer."
Freddie also confirmed that the Liss Band will be appearing at the Centre later this year, as part of a planned programme arranged by and to support the St.John Ambulance Brigade.
