Liphook millennium Hall
- Father of the bride (8th Apr 2015 - 19:43:18)
My daughter had her wedding reception at The Millenium Hall. I have to admit that it would not have been my first choice but I was proved wrong. Karen took over from someone else and was pleasant and helpful right from the start. On the morning of the wedding Karen and staff were so helpful, even helping setting/laying out the tables and decorations. Karen even helped serve the drinks etc, she didn't have to and she wasn't asked, she wanted to help . So Thankyou to Karen and The Millenium Hall, I would thoroughly recommend people to make good use of this facility.

Dear Father of the Bride
I'm the committee chair for the Millennium Hall and we were delighted to host your wedding party on Saturday. I have to say that I did pop down in the morning to have a look at the amazing transformation you made to the hall, it looked really stunning! I also know that Karen did a fantastic job and we're delighted that you were pleased with the day.
Congratulations to the bride and groom!

Shame the toilets look a mess and if they never had seat covers on the chairs, quite a few have torn/worn out holes in them
It's all 15 years plus old referb it's badly needs it, also the subsidence out the back of the hall is a danger needs to be repaired
If your in charge of the hall your not making a very good impression!!!!!! And maybe you should let someone that can see the problems run it!!!!

Steve, I completely agree with you that there is a lot of work to be done at the LMC. If you had come along to the Annual Parish meeting held a few weeks ago you would have heard me say that the centre needs a lot of refurbishment as it has not had enough money spent on it over the last 15 years.
There is a whole list of items that we know need sorting out but we are also nearing the VAT threshold set for local authorities. Once we go over this threshold we have to start charging VAT on all our hire charges and we are very reluctant to do that.
Therefore we have to prioritise work accordingly, but the toilets, amphitheatre, floor, furniture etc are all on the list of work to be carried out.
If you wish to speak to me directly about this I would be very happy to talk to you (722324).

But it's a new financial year!!!
You charge far too much for the hall hire
Yr charging for 1st class facilities when they are 3rd grade!!!!
It's a community centre not a money making machine. It's was built for the Liphook people, but most can't afford the high charges you have in place.

Steve, rather than repeating information here that is already published on the parish council website, please use the following link:
www.bramshottandliphook-pc.gov.uk
At the top you will see LMCMC minutes from 12th March 2015 which details the committee's discussions around hire charges and expenditure. The committee meets every two months so our next meeting is in May.
The next link down is titled APM Minutes and in there you will find all the reports given by committee chairmen at the Annual Parish Meeting including mine regarding the Millennium Centre.
Please do take the time to read these reports.
Jane

Karen is a real assist to the hall, if she runs the hall like the carnival we will have a well run and pleasant place to hold events.

You can claim on insurance for subsidence and what is more we should be informing the original builders who were employed by Sainsburies that the building is substandard.

It's not just running the hall, it's all the grounds the Liphook council are responsible for the rec, radford Park, the allotments in Tunbridge Lane ect ect . The grounds staff. There is a lot to this job not just run the millennium centre!!!!!

Hi you at the most only ever get a 10 buildings cover from a new build
The millennium Hall is coming up to 16 years old so it's down to the council to sort it out, not many insurance company's would pay for outside subsidence, and this area must have been like it for nearly 4/5 years. You don't get the best built build in the world for free

When you say council, you mean tax payers, and spending large sums on repairing public buildings which are not staffed by volunteers means a huge hike in council tax, or running them like the village halls, which are usually entirely staffed by volunteers. All other halls in Liphook are staffed by volunteers.

Please stop hijacking posts, it was lovely to read a positive comment about some lovely hard working people. If you want to complain about something that was completely outside of Karen and teams control post a separate comment.
Congratulations to the happy couple (and families) and well done team it looked fabulous.

I agree it appears that some of the postings may be someone with a very personal axe to grind.

Facts are facts even the price of drinks
And how much it is to hire the hall, it's cost far to much for what you get
It's the Liphook councillors fault.
Dont blame anyone but them

Yes Steve facts are facts, and it is also a fact that halls run with volunteers and not employing any staff, keep the costs to a minimum and can afford to charge less. These costs have to be factored in before you decide what to charge or you run at a loss, also a large building like the hall has a lot of electricity and heating costs, as it is open usually most of the time. Other Halls do not open unless they have bookings and keep the costs down. My friend runs a village hall entirely with volunteers except for the cleaner, who only comes in after the hall is booked, there are not staff there on site. That is the way of most halls.

If yr on about the village hall by the club well they get rent from the club so they can afford to pay!!!! The club should pay nothing as both buildings were left by a vicar for the use of Liphook people, not for the village hall to make easy money!!!!

How nice to read positive comments about The Millennium Centre. Let's hope this is a sign that there is now real interest being taken in the running of the centre. I would point out that for several years after it's construction the Millennium Hall, as it was then called, was run entirely by volunteers and a very good job they did too. It was the Parish Council who insisted it should come under their umbrella.

Yet again, another positive post has been hijacked by small minded and selfish individuals that have an overinflated view of their own opinions.
This post was simply one member of our community wanting to express their thanks to those that contributed positively to a family event yet like an uninvited guest, the party has been gate crashed. As other posters have said, by all means create a new topic if you have a gripe but please stop this pig ignorant habit that is all over talkback of unwarranted contributions.
