Hermes Deliveries
- Lucy (5th Dec 2015 - 11:23:08)

I've had three deliveries this week by this company (Longmoor road area) and every time he or she has simply dumped the parcel outside my gate and left no calling card or anything. Completely careless. These are Christmas presents and there is nothing to stop people walking past and taking them.I have complained to Hermes so let's see what they come back with. I was just curious to know if anyone else had the same problem ?

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Jane (5th Dec 2015 - 13:30:35)

Yes Lucy I have this problem with Hermes too, and I met some friends last night who all said the same.

The only reason I know there's a parcel sitting outside the front door (in the rain fairly often) is because I get an email saying that my parcel has been delivered to a secure location. It isn't secure - it's outside my front door! And this happens mostly when I'm at home so the driver doesn't even bother to knock.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Debbie (5th Dec 2015 - 13:45:40)

Hi Lucy,
I was due to have a parcel delivered and yesterday morning my neighbour found it on her doorstep (which isn't covered) it was absolutely sodden so it must have been left there the day before and had been in the poring rain all of Thursday night the box had fallen apart it was so wet! So they delivered it to the wrong address and left it in the pouring rain.

- Jackie Bond (5th Dec 2015 - 16:26:49)

Same problems here - parcels dumped on front doorstep no card or even knock at door and also the Next parcels delivered outside of quoted delivery time! Last week I had someone else's delivery but luckily when I took it to them they had mine. I have also complained .

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- BT (5th Dec 2015 - 16:38:17)

I have had parcels left outside and in the enclosed porch but no ring on the bell to say something has been delivered. Someone I know says that the delivery person does not ring and wait for an answer as they are often watching a child in their car or van. Perhaps you can tell Hermes that you are not the only person in Liphook who has this problem. I know that they are paid per number of drops they have done so I guess that to check that the delivery is received will take up more of their time !!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Huw (5th Dec 2015 - 16:54:07)

I found a parcel from hermes dumped on my path last night, no card no phone number, someone was in, there were lights on and we have a working door bell.
the parcel was not for me so I took it to the recipient

if you cant be bothered to deliver stuff properly let someone else do it, someone who gives a damn

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Ian (5th Dec 2015 - 17:16:26)

Ive always found them very good, no complaints at all

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- No 4 (5th Dec 2015 - 17:36:50)

Hi, I've complained to Hermes multiple times but they never seem to reply. One of our parcels turned up and the item inside was completely smashed. I generally try to avoid ordering from websites if they say Hermes will be delivering.

They are completely useless.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Alison (5th Dec 2015 - 19:34:17)

I've had exactly the same problem. On Thursday evening I had a Debenhams delivery just left on my porch. We were all in, there were lights on and they didn't bother to ring the bell either. I only discovered the parcel when I nipped outside to get some wood to bring inside.
Rubbish delivery service :(

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Chris (5th Dec 2015 - 20:32:27)

Here we go again! There is more than one person delivering in Liphook for Hermes - making sweeping statements about all Hermes delivery staff is not helpful. Do not tar all with the same brush! My delivery lady, Angela, is fab & cannot do enough to ensure that things are delivered correctly, safely & are NEVER left in the rain.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Rachel (5th Dec 2015 - 20:49:41)

I too had a parcel left out in the rain despite a note on the door saying "all post/parcels to be left in porch, door open".
I was checking my emails and had one saying the parcel was delivered and SIGNED FOR!!! I was about to reply when I thought I had better check the porch again. In the dark and rain I could just make out an orange bag outside - my parcel.
PS I live on Longmoor Road too.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Richard (5th Dec 2015 - 21:42:39)

If you don't get the goods, complain to the seller, not Hermes. Hermes do not have a contract with the buyer, only with the seller.

If goods are being damaged by the courier and the seller has to keep on replacing them, eventually the seller will change the courier.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Marion (5th Dec 2015 - 21:59:48)

The lady who delivers my parcels from Hermes is always very efficient, friendly and polite. Wish I could say the same of other delivery services!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Lucy (6th Dec 2015 - 00:42:08)

Thanks for all the replies. I can't believe how often it is happening. In response to Chris' comment, I did specifically say the longmoor road area as I am aware there are multiple delivery persons in liphook.. Richard, that is a very good idea. I will make complaints to the seller in future. If I don't hear from Hermes, I will be sure to forward these comments to them.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Helen (6th Dec 2015 - 11:00:40)

Hi have to say Angela delivers to us the other end of the village. Cannot fault her at all, always leaves a card if we are out and very polite if we are in. Well done Angela !!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- liz (7th Dec 2015 - 08:37:38)

I'm sure the Hermes delivery lady is very nice but we have never met her because parcels are always left on the doorstep, the doorbell is never rung (even if raining) and no card is left.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Helen (7th Dec 2015 - 13:15:04)

Liz,

Clearly Angela is not your Hermes delivery Agent as she ALWAYS knocks/rings and leaves a card!!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- liz (7th Dec 2015 - 13:48:22)

Helen

Perhaps not - never seen whoever it is. Presumably that is why we are getting mixed reports about Hermes service in the area!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- James (7th Dec 2015 - 21:05:47)

I have never had a problem with them but there are lots of delivery drivers I think many just use there cars and are freelance. One young girl looked about 18 delivered my parcel last week at 7.30pm but she was just the runner and the driver stays in the car. Best to leave a note on the door with instructions for future might help then get them to,post the note back in door once read.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- S (8th Dec 2015 - 01:03:59)

I don't know her name but the lady who delivers to us (station side of liphook) is always really friendly & cheerful, always rings the bell.

I suppose it goes down to preference though - if we are out then would always prefer them to leave the parcel at the door - which some couriers completely refuse to do even if a note is left out.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- liz (8th Dec 2015 - 09:10:22)

S

Not really a good idea unless you know the exact day of delivery. Much better for the delivery people to ring the doorbell!!

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Jackie (8th Dec 2015 - 09:53:58)

Our delivery lady (Angela) always leaves a card if we are not in. She is always cheery and helpful, she even puts parcels in the hall for me since I hurt my leg. Above and beyond the call of duty every time.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- M (8th Dec 2015 - 13:54:05)

We have this problem every time.

Sadly Amazon use them a lot and now John Lewis and Apple are using them too.

They seem to specialise in leaving cardboard packages in the pouring rain and also finding the most visible place near the road for valuables.

Never a knock, ring or card.

I have complained to the companies who use them and tried to contact Hermes. I suspect they are cheap and have a low return rate as they don't waste time delivering things to real people or generating paperwork.

In our part of the village the policy seems to be just leave outside the house and go. This happens all year round but is even more painful at Christmas when ruined books or missing presents are upsetting.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- jenny (9th Dec 2015 - 11:00:43)

Sadly decided to have a John Lewis parcel delivered, but I could have had it Click and Collect at Waitrose and would have received it in more than half the time.

Hermes kept saying on email they had tried to deliver unsuccessfully on two attempts, both days we were there all day.

Then we had an email to say it had been left in a secure place and eventually our neighbour found it on their door step. I noticed that another neighbour's parcel was just chucked in front of their garden path gate in the road, not even near their house.

We are Longmoor Road.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Basil Briolas (9th Dec 2015 - 14:51:19)

I have had a headache dealing with Hermes and the same person.

I called up their HQ only to be rudely spoken to. Now before I purchase anything on line I ask the seller if they use Hermes, and inform them that I will not buy their products unless they send it by Royal Mail.

So far it works marvellously.

This way I am sending a very strong message to the sellers and to Hermes that I the client decide how my money is spent and the standard of delivery terms.

Have a great day all.
Basil

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- s (9th Dec 2015 - 17:24:41)

Liz,

We've been leaving notes for doorstep delivery for 20 years, nothing has ever gone missing yet.

Obviously would always hope they would ring the doorbell first, but when you are out at work all day it is often not an option to personally receive the parcels. Actually the one thing that has gone missing lately was something that was signed for by an anonymous neighbour, who never passed out back to is.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- jenny wiseman (9th Dec 2015 - 20:05:51)

I have only praise for Angela and her colleague, who also delivers to my home. Both are friendly, efficient and helpful.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Lynn (11th Dec 2015 - 18:01:09)

My husband came home this evening with a large parcel from Germany, delivered by Hermes... I have been in all day and there was no knock on the door, I know this as I have a dog who would have definitely let me know !
This is unacceptable service .... I have heard so many complaints of this delivery service. ...

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- MT (12th Dec 2015 - 14:15:35)

I live on Longmoor Road and for one, am very grateful that my Hermes delivery girl leaves my parcels for me next to the front door . There's nothing more frustrating than missing a delivery and then having to rearrange or end up collecting it from miles away. They are always left out of sight from the road and I have never experienced having a parcel thrown or left on he drive. I'm sure these delivery people are paid a pittance per delivery and whilst that doesn't excuse the poor service some have provided by the comments on this thread you can always opt not to receive parcels which are being delivered by this company as a previous poster has stated. Please don't tar all of these hard working individuals with the same brush and put them out of a job. Thank you, whoever you might be. I am very pleased with the service I get and the friendly chats that we have when I am able to be at home when you call.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Lucy (12th Dec 2015 - 22:24:52)

I have had yet another (debenhams) parcel dumped outside my house delivered by hermes. And just to clarify, this wasn't left by my door. It was left by the side of the road at the end of my drive outside the gate and there is someone always in, gates open so there is simply no excuse for it. Oh and no calling card again (obviously). the person who delivers for Amazon was perfectly OK to come knock on the door so why can't this Hermes delivery woman do the same! I will be complaining to debenhams.

Re: Hermes Deliveries
- Jay W (18th Dec 2015 - 21:01:15)

Never had a problem before but Weds evening (sometime after 7.30pm) 2 large parcels were left on our doorstep in rain. Nobody knocked or rang and we were obviously home. Lucky we went out to the bins or they would have been there all night (if not stolen).
Have informed senders as suggested and will also let any Hermes know, for what it's worth.
On Bordon Rants a man was seen acting suspiciously and thought to be checking doorsteps for parcels that had been left - just so you are aware.
