Longmoor Training Area
- Sarah (9th Apr 2016  10:03:46)

In a previous thread it was mentioned that there is access to Longmoor Training area.
Wherabouts is it, what is there, can anyone go and work out there or is it just military? Thanks!

Do you mean the ranges?

Am no expert but the two links provided will give you a good starting point, the best thing to do is get yourself a proper OS map of the area, costs about £14.

I have created the images below from a workout application called Strava, it has the added benefit of showing a heat map of tracks taken by people whom used the GPS app whilst out and about so it shows up the common routes in Red and Blue.

I have marked the possible ways into the areas, on both Woolmer (North of A3) and Longmoor (South). It’s clear from the heat maps there is more used tracks in Longmoor. The heat maps don’t show a good little 2k route around the lakes near the Greatham entrance to Woolmer but the middle of Woolmer is excellent, you can spend hours in there.

Clearly you need to be aware of the MOD bylaws, and don’t enter when the Flags are up, also if you see any military training going on its best to about turn and get out of their way and off the land.

I'm not sure that the OP means the track around the outside of the ranges as she talks about military training and wanting to train/work out?

Does she mean a military style boot camp as I think there is one of them locally.
