Hollywood comes to Liphook
What do the following films and TV productions have in common: Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Chocolat, Entrapment, Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade, Van Helsing, Troy, Midsommer Murders, Waking the Dead, Rosie & Jim, Jonathon Creek and Narnia? They all feature award-winning props created by husband and wife team Louise & Keir Lusby keirlusby.com who will be at Liphook on this week.
The Shepperton- based prop and drape makers are invited speakers at the forthcoming Bramshott & Liphook Art & Crafts Society (BLACS) meeting on Tuesday 1st May at the Liphook Millennium Centre near Sainsbury’s. Visitors and members will learn the stories behind these spectacular creations and there will be an opportunity to question Louise on her tricks of the trade The meeting begin at 8pm as usual with a break for refreshments (non-member ticket price £1.50).
The TV & Film Props event in May marks two new changes for BLACS: a new regular date for evening meetings (1st Tuesday of the month) and a new venue. Sue Rawlings, Chair BLACS is looking forward to the new arrangements and hopes to welcome even more visitors in this, the society’s 25th anniversary year. Members come from a wide area covering all three Counties and the Society is made of up of professional artists and craftsmen, amateur artisans and those who are simply interested in all things arts & crafts.
The Millennium Centre is also the new home of the Annual Exhibition in October which attracts large numbers of visitors each year. This year, the winning entry from the Heritage Preservation Society Competition will also be displayed at the Exhibition. The winning painting will be reproduced as a limited edition to raise money for the proposed Heritage Centre which will be based at the Centre.
