liphook and liss surgery receptionist
- F. (23rd Nov 2017 - 17:05:38)

anyone else have a hard time with SOME of the receptionists at liphook surgery??

some of them, particularly one, have been so aggressive and rude that they've had me in tears

I’ve only ever found them really helpful and pleasant

Dear F.

When you don't use your real name and cast a negative view over someone else whom can be identified then the rest of us don't pay any attention as its abundantly clear this is just a meaningless personal vendetta. Its the same for everything on this forum. When your not prepared to use a real name or email address its simply ignored by the real people and only reacted to by people whom also hide behind the keyboard like you.
Your not posting this to bring about valid change, your posting it to bring about pain to the subject so please.. just go away until your prepared to put your own name to your own words.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the receptionists and doctors at Liphook and Liss surgery. Treat them with respect and they give it back in spades. This is the NHS at its best.

To add to other comments :-
I have had a few problems with Liphook & Liss Surgery (all now addressed) BUT nothing but great help & courtesy given by their receptionists.
Maybe you were just unlucky??

Dear All,

I am not revealing my name because I am a young woman who has been subjected to awful treatment by two of the admin/reception staff and I know they would make life even harder for me. I was simply reaching out to know if anyone else had had an issue.

As for them being easily identifiable, i disagree as there are quite a few admin staff at the Surgery and I have not named anyone so as to be fair.

I’m sure if you were young and had chronic illnesses, and were treated like crap by a couple of them you would also try and reach out!

As for the other receptionists, they are all lovely and quite helpful. It’s a shame these two I have encountered let the surgery down.

I agree that sometimes they could be more sympathetic, I am presuming though that they have parameters of their work to adhere to and if some
of the questioning seems harsh, it is because they have been told to achieve certain results by the doctors. I asked for an emergency appt
having felt very unwell whilst in Liphook, arrived at the surgery, to be told by the receptionist that I would have to drive home and wait until a doctor phoned me to decide if I was urgent enough to have an appt the same day. I did not feel up to making another three driving trips in the car. do believe it is the system the doctors have imposed and not the fault of the frontline staff. I was castigated for not having phoned to request an emergency appt.

Dear - F,

please look at the link,

www.cqc.org.uk

scroll down to the bottom of the page, where it says ;

Tell us about your care

'poor care good care ' tell us now'

follow the pages, you can complete this anonymously online too, although it is a confidential reporting system. You can also write to them if you can't / don't want to use the online reporting system, their address is on the site.

G.P.receptionists are included in the monitoring system of GP practices.

Take a look around the web site, you can access all G.P. practice reports, it is public information.

You should also follow the formal complaints procedure at the surgery, and put your complaint in writing, they do have to investigate all complaints, that way you may be able to bring about a change to the working practices. They do keep a record of these complaints for CQC [the regulator]. You can also mention to the CQC when you report to them that you have followed the practice complaints procedure.

I hope this may have been of some help to you. Nobody should be humiliated, or feel upset by anyone at their G.P. practice.

If people were aware of the amount of abuse all N.H.S staff have to put up with for little financial reward it would come as no surprise that the exasperation these people at the front line feel sometimes comes to the surface.

Thank you so much Suze.

Ordinary Joe — they don’t know what the patients are going through? Just because they may have had abuse by few (which is wholly unacceptable) that doesn’t make it at all okay to make comments etc. to other patients who treat them with respect.

Dear ordinary joe,

however a 'bad ' day a front line worker is having,it is completely unacceptable, there is a zero tolerance to this behaviour by staff,
&
there are strategies / coping mechanisms to aid / prevent stress.
If these are not being put into action, it really means a couple of things;
1] poor supervision of staff
2] poor / insufficient training / recruitment
Both equate to poor management, & yes from the G.Ps / Practice Manager.

Any 'Worker' in a GP practice is funded by us ' joe public' the tax payer, and everyone who uses their service is a customer, and should at all times be treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Its really not that difficult, unless its the wrong person in the wrong role !

I sincerely hope that you or your family member is never subjected to this bad attitude.from a front line worker, there is no excuse.

& finally to

-F, no problem,happy to help.

My husband and I have had nothing but polite helpful attention from Liphook and Liss Surgery from both doctors and receptionists.
