5th February - Gary Breeze.
The Bramshott & Liphook Art & Craft Society is very pleased that Gary Breeze, leading British letter sculptor and designer has agreed to give a rare talk about his work and inspirations.
Drawing letterforms for carving is a hard won skill which requires a particular attention to detail. Gary is first and foremost a letter cutter of stone & wood, and has quickly gained a respected reputation for technically accomplished lettering, robust design, and innovation, which has won him a increasing number of high-profile public commissions and recognition in the wider art world.
A brief review of his work shows his growing status and depth of talent: the inscription to Princess of Wales memorial, Althorp; lettering for the New Scottish Parliament; lettering over the Meridian Line at the Greenwich Millennium Gardens; lettering for the Soviet War Memorial, Imperial War Museum , the Bali bomb victims memorial, London and the Romsey Charter Stone unveiled by HM The Queen in 2006. He is currently Artist in Residence at Southampton University Archaeology Department.
It promises to be a very interesting evening! Hope to see you there!
