Running around longmoor ranges
- Fez (17th Feb 2020 - 14:34:05)
Hi Liphook,
As I was driving up the A3 this morning I noticed that there is a large wide track going around the perimeter of the ranges.
Does the track go the whole way around and is it possible to run round it? Also how far is it?
Thanks

Yes you can, it's a 10k loop. You can't go inside the boundary if the red flags are up though. It's a good run and easy access from Liphook down Headley Road.

Marie,
To gain access down the Headley rd you'd have to go to Passfield,
the path behind the old Passfield Oak pub leads to the range track.
Its easier to drive down to Greatham and park in the little car park by the roundabout then just cross the road.

If you're on foot, go over the A3 leaving Liphook, continue for about 0.5 mile and take the footpath down the side of the horse's field. See link to OS map below:

You can also access the ranges from the Longmoor Road, using a bridleway and footbridge, opposite the access road to the Deers Hut/Old Thorns.

Hi,
Yes, the track's great for running. It's exactly a 10km loop with a short sharp hill to keep things interesting.
It's perfect for buggy running too.
I tend to park up in Conford and access the track at Conford gate and run it anti clockwise. what3words.com/swept.tuned.signs
here's the route:

If you want to make it more of a challenge you can come off the track at the northern side and taken in the adjacent tracks that climb Hollywater Clump and Round Hill.

If you don't fancy doing the entire 10K there's an 'easy' 5K which is dead flat.
Park at the Greatham roundabout and get onto the main track, Head towards the entrance to the second firing range at about 1.5m and turn back. I plod along this route very much in my own time every morning.

You most certainly can ride a bike around it. And it's great fun taking a detour over the A3 and across Liss Forest or up to the top of the hill where the telephone mast is.

King of Greatham - do you mean over the A3 and through the Longmoor camp, can you join up with the river side walk in Liss? I didn't realise you could do that... will give that a try.

Hi Ben,
Yes, that's it exactly.
Best wishes.
