Young singer
Aimée, a 13 year old singer / songwriter from Liphook, has been given the big thumbs up by judges at the Live and Unsigned auditions. Along with the other most impressive acts at auditions, Aimée has made it through and will now be performing at the live stages of Live and Unsigned 2009.
Competing against hundreds of auditionees on the day and over 10,000 nationally, Aimée has now been given an opportunity to prove that she is the best in the region. Those who made it through the auditions will now take part in a live head to head battle in front of hundreds of audience members and a professional judging panel to win a place in the next round.
Live and Unsigned is a national music competition for unsigned acts to compete live. With over 10,000 registrations in 2008 it is the biggest music talent search for original acts in the UK. Live and Unsigned’s popularity comes from its reputation for encouraging originality. The acts taking part are commended for doing their own thing; being individual, original and performing their own genre and style live!
Chris Grayston, Events Director of Live & Unsigned explains “This cannot be compared to any other talent searches as the acts talent is the show. We are interested in discovering and exposing talent at its best; live! It is as simple as we say Get Live, get signed.”
Paul King from Future Music, who is better known in the music industry as the former Manager of Tears for Fears, Julian Cope, Level 42 and tour Manager for Genesis says “We have found that the competition is so effective for us to discover talented acts and bands and to place them in the music market place. We can really see those acts that have the commitment and fan base to be successful in the industry… and for the acts involved it is a great opportunity to develop, improve and impress.”
One contestant who has evidently caught the judge’s eyes is local talent Aimée, now competing for a place in the National finals with the possibility of grabbing that break through recording contract. Competitors in the show will be asked to perform two songs; one of their best own written songs and the other is to be a creative cover.
The competition has winners in categories of Indie, Urban, Pop/Acoustic and Metal, with the overall winner of the competition being offered a Recording and management contract with Future Music with an investment of up to £20,000 to release their single. The winners will be crowned the UK's best Live and Unsigned acts in front of a capacity crowd, including many record company A&R and other entertainment professionals from within the music industry.
The winners will be thrust into the media spotlight through television, radio and the press and furthermore all winners will all be invited on the UK Live and Unsigned Tour. The tour involves as many as 100 gigs across the UK including the chance to perform live at some well known festivals. Last year’s winners, Kiddo 360, have already gone on to win an award at the Vodafone Live Awards in October of last year, alongside the likes of The Ting Tings, Primal Scream and Kate Nash.
Aimée made it through the auditions at Princes Hall in Aldershot amongst hundreds that queued patiently for their turn in front of the Judges. Aimée is now preparing for the Live stages where she will compete amongst other hopefuls in their Live show on Sunday 5th April 2009 at the Princes Hall, Aldershot GU11 1NX for a place in the Area Final on the Sunday 10th May.
