Stupid rules at bordon dump - AF (3rd Mar 2022  14:25:15) Can anyone explain the stupid rules at the dump. I had to take a dismantled metal bunk bed to the dump. So I booked a slot and loaded up car but could only get half the load in the car(it's a small car). I unloaded and then asked the staff if I could pop back with rest of the bed. I would have been back within the half hour slot, of course the answer was NO. I have no idea why, I was the only one at the dump. We need to get rid of the pointless rules and get back to normal, do the council really want to increase fly tipping.

Now that all those new houses have been built there it would be a problem having cars queuing along the road to get in. I take your point about being within your alloted time though.

Realistically, you aren't going to unload half a bed, return to Liphook, reload the other half, drive back to Bordon and unload, all in 30 minutes. You will almost certainly end up out of your time slot. Secondly, HCC now allow you to book multiple appointments where before you could only book one slot a week. And lastly, if it was a steel (metal) bed, there are endless licenced scrap metal guys that would collect it for free from your house, saving the need to go to the tip in the first place. Just a thought for next time. Bob.

So that's 24 minutes for 2 trips (Bordon to Liphook and back again) Leaving 6 minutes to load the car and unload again. That's not including the half the bed already unloaded. Not possible, you're moaning for the sake of it. Could be worse. You could be invaded by Russia. First world problems or what?

The dump is very quiet i was the only one there yesterday. We don't need the booking system. If we have to have the booking system the technology exists to have a live system where you could book your slot on the same day rather that 24 hrs in advance. Just think you could be doing things round the house and decide you have a dump load and quickly log on to your phone and get a slot that day and of you go all sorted. The council need to make the system as easy as possible to avoid fly tipping and annoying people.

Re: Stupid rules at bordon dump - Joe (5th Mar 2022  00:27:52) I think it is the same for all of Hampshire. If you go up the road to Surrey there is no booking system. Avoid weekends! Perhaps they do not have as much rubbish. They do have a lot more categories for waste meaning many more separate bins to put the right things in the right places though.

Also, you would be supporting a long established local business of excellent repute. It's at the same place it has always been. Why give your metal bed to the Bordon tip to sell when you could make a bob on it yourself. The scrappy have always helped me unload my scrap as well which the Bordon recycling centre tell me they are no longer allowed to do.

Re: Stupid rules at bordon dump - AF (22nd Jul 2022  17:32:28) I went to the dump on Tuesday and asked about the rules changing, and was told quite abruptly by the employee "NO WERE NOT CHANGING BECAUSE ITS SO POPULAR". Not sure who it's popular with, not me thats for sure. I will admit the system has got better in that you can book multiple slots and also you can book same day slots if you do it in the morning. We simply don't need a booking system anymore and i am sure this system has increased fly tipping.

Surrey have never had the booking system so if you are going that way anyway Witley tip is nearest. It is huge and you have to separate stuff a lot more than in Hampshire but then there is no booking required.

Do not much good going to Witley if you live in Hampshire… Booking system is good, but just requires planning to go rather than going on a whim. At least you can book same day now.

I have previously posted the same thing on here and have so far never been asked to prove anything. Maybe perhaps before posting sarcasm think a little.

Re: Stupid rules at bordon dump - Jen (23rd Jul 2022  12:55:28) We much prefer having the booking system rather than just turning up with a car load of stuff and queuing. Once you've made the effort of loading it all in the car, you're kind of committed to getting rid of it, regardless of how long the queue is and how long you'll have to wait. The last thing you'll want to do is take it all back home and unload it all again, then try again later on in the hope that the queue is shorter. So you have to wait ... and wait. Sometimes the queue used to be all the way down the road! Now that we have to book, we know that we'll be able to get in straight away, dispose of the stuff easily and be back home again in less than 30 minutes. I very much hope that the booking scheme remains.

The point is these rules were put in place during lockdown when lots of people were using the site as they had a lot of time on their hands. We are not in lockdown now and most people are back at work, so the rules are not necessary. I agree before lockdown you may have had to wait but not for long. I would be interested to know how much waste is being deposited now and how much was being collected before lockdown. I would guess its less now and if so where is the missing waste - Fly tipped.

What is your reasoning for wishing to change rules that were instigated in Lockdown that now seem to working extremely well for the vast majority of people? They work and the fact that the rules were put in place because of Lockdown is immaterial. Please don't imply that fly-tipping is likely to increase because of the new rules. The main reasons why people fly-tip is: 1 They have no social conscience. 2 They want to dispose of items that they may have to pay for at the tip. 3 People who do clearance, without proper paperwork, for innocent members of the public who pay for this service and mistakenly think the items will be taken to the tip. There probably are other reasons but these are enough to be going on with. Fly-tipping is inexcusable in any circumstances.

Re: Stupid rules at bordon dump - Mike (1st Aug 2022  10:44:37) Also be aware that although it’s called Bordon Household Recycling Centre, you cannot recycle glass bottles there anymore. They now tell you to take glass to one of the local supermarket recycling centres instead.
