Pizza van London Road
- sue green (2nd Sep 2022 - 15:56:49)

Does anybody know if Vaporetto no longer come to Liphook on Thurday evenings?

We went to London Road last night and it wasn't there and this is the third time in the past few months that has happened.

There's nothing on their website to suggest they've stopped this service.

Thanks

Sue

Think it went a long time ago.

It’s only pizza :) Why can’t people just buy it in Sainsbury’s :) Takes 10 minutes to cook and it’s much cheaper.
Also this van had a noisy generator and created litter in area. There is another van on Fridays serving burgers and chips for £11 if you can’t cook a burger though :)

Hi,
What about supporting local business and enterprise? We need local food outlets to survive in our community in the current hard times.

A supermarket pizza maybe cheaper. but is a poor equivalent of the Italian dish cooked fresh in a typical oven, made from stone or steel.

As for Burger and chips, you get what you are willing to pay.
If poor quality, and a greasy offering is one's thing then fine.

The better the ingredients of this satisfying meals the better, and the experience of what we love to eat.

Interesting Paul, it's a great attitude in theory, but actually there is no obligation on the public to support businesses of ay kind, they are after all businesses not charities, they serve us if it benefits them, we use them if it benefits us!

OK capitalism gives us total free reign to decide what meals we eat, how much we pay, where we buy it from, personally I agree with Helen on this, I think supermarket pizzas have come a long way since I remember them in the 70s and 80s they always seem remarkably doughy, fresh and tasty to me, maybe if I ever ventured to the pizza van I could never go back, so I think I'll stick to my £3.50 treat, or 69p frozen margherita from Tesco if I'm slumming it! Each to their own but it's also interesting question, is using a van in a layby that comes a few times a week supporting local businesses or taking business away from the local shops and takeaways? And maybe we aren't supporting them enough if they aren't coming anymore, anyone willing to increase their support, anyone?

Hi,
According to reviews the best Pizzas sold at Sainsburys are the frozen brand Chicago Town. The large stuffed Pepperoni is rated highly, and also the Cheese version.

Try Florios down Liss at the Whistle Stop.
Superb Pizzas.

The best pizza locally is in the Italian restaurant Newtown road. Waitrose own large pizza is also very good. I do not think that Sainsburys could in any way be called a local business. The profits go to head office. The Pizza van I believe operated quite a large area, Haslemere, Midhurst Hindhead, so probably local people own it. Pizza is basically cheese and tomato on toast Italian style a fast food because our lifestyles are not suited to meals that take a long time to prepare such as stews and home made pies.

There seems to be a problem with cooking these days. Everyone seems to want fast food no time to cook.

Well when my dear wife passed away and I was still working and she did all the cooking I thought what now so out came the slow cooker marvellous peace of kit.

You can fill it with just about anything loads of vegetables meat oxo cubes and put it on low all day ha presto hot meal when you get home.

Nothing better with a crusty roll, a family could live for a week like that. I think fast food should only be a treat sometimes because it can become addictive and make people lazy.

Just my experience’s and thought’s.

Well said M couldn’t agree more it’s very easy to make cheap nutritious meals. Lots of cheap near out of date food in the supermarket ideal for slow cooker.
