Night time firing
- M (6th Oct 2023 - 03:13:28)

Did anyone else hear the prolonged firing at 3am?
It’s not listed on the MoD site for nights, just 8-10.30 pm.
Whilst they might need to practice some warning could be provided and I don’t believe 3am is justified.

We live in Headley Down - went on most of the night and still going this morning at 09.00

Still, it is not as annoying as loud music : ))

It's part of Operation Interflex. A quick Google will tell you all you need to know about it.

The Ranges put out a notice on social media and in the paper.
It'll be going on for the next few nights.

Am I being dim, last night isn't listed as a date?

Re: Night time firing

There's a war on. Fathers, sons & husbands are being trained how to fight and people are complaining about a few nights of disturbance🙄
Perhaps complain to the army about last night as it wasn't listed. I'm sure they'll take it seriously.......

Quite agree. Thousands of people are dying in Ukraine. Surely we can put up with a few nights of gunfire, if it's helping to train the Ukraine solders. Don't some people listen to the news.

Re: Night time firing
- er (6th Oct 2023 - 14:47:09)

Don't be facetious, we are not at war yet. Whilst I don't mind the firing at all, and I'm sure we all understand it's necessary, we're not at war so residents have the right to expect that whatever policies are in place to notify residents are followed.

Our civil laws operate that way until or unless martial law replaces it in wartime, we thankfully have decided to stay out of it so far, therefore the question was valid.

Personally I don't feel the need to know as I take it as it comes, others may feel the need to have clear advance notice. Emotional guilt trip not needed.

Whitehill council put out a warning on Social media to say the nighttime training would be taking place on 4th, 5th, 6th,7th and 8th Oct.

Living at Griggs Green, I have to say I only heard it last night at first thing this am - but I have to say our forces have to train somewhere whether we are at war or in peace.
I find it quite reassuring myself.

Longmoor has been an army camp for many many years so if you live in the area you have to expect some noise.of training exercises etc.

Perhaps if Liphook parish council had notified it's residents like Whitehill & Bordon TC did?

Unless you're expecting the army to notify you door to door ER ?

- Resident (8th Oct 2023 - 16:41:53)

Wow. We live near military facilities that have live firing ranges - and still a few people are surprised when they hear noise?!

In case you're wondering what the noise actually is - it's the sound of freedom. Your freedom.

@ Resident. Hear Hear.

Fortunately we are not at war. We are though doing amazingly well at training those who are, through little fault of their own.
A little lost sleep may be pretty tedious, but you can always catch up.
Those men and women in the cold and damp of the early morning who know that quite shortly it won't be a range but a place where the lead will be returned. Crack and thump is no fun.

Slava Ukraini! Heroim Slava!
