Driving out side school entrance on phone
- Paul (18th Oct 2023 - 16:57:59)

I think people need to go back to driving school.

It’s Against the law to drive using phone

Right outside school entrance what if child crossing road and driver not see them when on phone. Mayhem today it was raining drivers parking right outside gates on double yellow lines don’t want to get wet walking. I think we need the police to start policing outside school entrance - make loads of money.

School don’t seem to make effort to stop drivers until someone gets hurt, been a few misses lately

Yes it’s getting really ridiculous coming and going out at the longmoor road end sometimes it’s nearly impossible to get between vehicles parked both sides adjacent to one another, no way could a fire engine get through. This is not only at school time evenings and weekends.

Paul- Agree with post except I don't believe it should be up to the teachers to be parking wardens, if people were more considerate and less selfish it would be job done. Unfortunately selfishness seems to be the new demographic in Liphook, its got worse and worse since the tunnel opened and we have become a London commuter village/town.

Pete, agree that the school cannot be held responsible for traffic flow. You are also quite right about selfishness although this is not restricted to Liphook. Since the pandemic stupidity, ignorance and self entitlement (and bone idleness) have become the norm and not restricted to any particular generation either.

The avenue has become a massive rat run very dangerous at times cars speeding through with so many entrances to property’s . The powers to be have been told for many years this would happen but they decided not listen when the planning came in for the estate down longmoor road they were told to put in the link road but as you all know they knew best - liphook has suffered so much from councils not listening to local people.

Paul,
The school regularly send out messages in newsletters about parking and driving near to school. This year they have had meeting with the local Councillor and the local authority to monitor how poorly drivers behave.

They have succeeded in getting 20mph road markings added along the Avenue and have also had law enforcement officers attending, who will issue fines to anyone parking on yellow lines, particularly at the school entrances.

The solution is to walk to school and if that is not possible to park away from the school and certainly not in Avenue Close.

Hello John the school had someone moving cars on that’s stopped now soon gone straight back to old ways usually it’s the same people
The fact someone was on phone during at school kick out time really bad also using path to park cars next to oak tree so you cannot walk pass and all over the grass which will get cut up now it’s winter
