Moving to Liphook? PLEASE NOTE!
- SteveC (9th Dec 2023 - 11:38:15)

Living in Liphook has many benefits but if you are considering a move to the area you should be aware that much of the adjoining countryside is owned by the Ministry of Defence.

Immediately adjoining Liphook are Longmoor Ranges. These have been here before any of us were born, there will be lots of big bangs and gunfire, often throughout the night. In addition Chinook helicopters often low fly over the village, again at night. In times of international tension (like now) this noise will increase.

In recent weeks it’s noticeable on many social media outlets some are whinging and moaning about how their (and their pets) mental health is being harmed by this noise!

Unfortunately this situation is not going to change, if the noise is going to detrimentally affect you then please, do not move here!

Also - anyone thinking about moving to Liphook needs to know that there is a local website where people state the b******* obvious!

As usual Paul, missing the point! If it was that obvious why are some many residents asking what the big bangs are at night upsetting their poochies??

Have no issue with the firing but just confused why the website says that firing is from 8am-6pm but there was clearly there was activity in the early hours last night?

If you do move to Liphook then know the following in regard to this site.

1. Don’t read posts from users whom have obscured their identities, simply skip those posts of replies, they are the Trolls.

2. If you do accidentally read a trolls post on here understand that some of them haven’t progressed very far in their own lives, this is the last entitlement they believe they hold and its the new people whom are responsible, for anything and everything they dislike.

@ Sam, have you a sixth toe? I’m lead to believe that’s what sets apart true locals from the blow in’s from London who’ve managed to increase the house value so the future generation of people with a sixth toe are unable to afford a home in the area. So instead they get knocked up and claim a free house off of the state for which we pay, the five toed workers, have to pay!

Your negative post leads us to believe you have a fabled sixth toe! Have you a free house too?

C, clearly they are practicing disinformation, and important part of warfare, by the fact that you expected the operation at the wrong time proves that the training is successful😂

Am afraid not Dave, am a home owning professional, I pay my way. But I am a blow in and am happy to shoot down some of the silly “you’re not from around here” nonsense many of you spout.

5 years in Liphook or a lifetime in Liphook means absolutely zero difference in terms of whom gets a say or whom does not.

I take from your comments you also have a chip about the welfare state as well now? I have never used it but I welcome its existence, for I actually care about other people, regardless of how long they resided in Liphook.

Russ - there are not “ loads “ of good restaurants and pubs in Liphook. The Italian restaurant in station road is very good but has a limited menu and there are no other “ restaurants “ ? one very good pub and 2 Ok ish pubs. One really terrible one !

UPDATE FROM THE MOD ON ACCESS TO THE LONGMOOR RANGES

The MOD have issued the following statement:

"We can confirm that training areas will re-open to the public as of 22 December and will remain so throughout the Xmas and New Year break. Thereafter it is our intent and desire that that we can return to the normal system of control measures that we had in place prior to the current phase of Operation INTERFLEX, the UK MOD package of support to our friends from Ukraine.

The aim will be that as before and subject to Byelaws the training area will in the normal course of events be open to the public on a routine basis with the exception being when areas are required for intensive training or when training of a particularly hazardous nature is taking place. In this event notice will be given on Parish websites as well as at access points by notice and sign.

Please note that this will apply only to Field Craft Training areas (FTA) and NOT our live fire Range Danger Area’s (RDA) where the usual system of flags , lights and gates remains extant.

On a final note we would like to emphasise that the coming to an end of this particular phase of INTERFLEX should in no way should be taken as an indication that UK support to the people of Ukraine is on the wane, on the contrary conducting the very intensive package of training that has been delivered at Longmoor during the course of the year has allowed us to concurrently develop more suitable facilities and at scale elsewhere.

It has been a huge privilege for us to be able to deliver such a high level of intense and quality training to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during this very critical time and we wish them well.

In particular however we would like to thank the community for the tolerance, support and forbearance which you have shown during the course of the year . You have enabled us to complete the task to maximum effect and ensure that the partner nation troops we have had under training are able to return to their homeland with the very best preparation for the very difficult challenges that we and they know lie ahead."

Joe you are probably right about restaurants but as a small community we don’t do too bad. Good coffee shops, a very good pub in the middle of the village two more on the outskirts. And if you can travel a little further rake flying bull and the jolly drovers very good. Same goes for other places around the area. As said liphooks a great place to live fantastic countryside easy access to the coast and other cities only my opinion but I’m biased because I’ve lived here all my life.

For a small community we're also lucky to be able to get a great Thai hand massage.
