Lloyds Pharmacy
- Anon (11th Dec 2023 - 08:54:42)

Yet another business which has gone. It seems not content with removing all of the pharmacies out of Sainsbury's the Lloyds name has now been mostly removed from their high street pharmacies as well, being replaced by Alliance.
Alliance is an amalgamation of Boots, Lloyds and a few others. The local branch here in Liphook doesn't stock half as much as before which says a lot of people only used Lloyds mainly for prescriptions, as do people now. The shelves are quite empty. As with a few other shops in Liphook, you don't use it you lose it!

I used to use Lloyds quite a lot, for toiletries and non-prescription medicines as well as prescriptions. Unfortunately, it became almost unusable a year or so ago, with random closures, half-empty shelves and huge queues. It was not unusual to be waiting in the queue for 30 to 40 minutes before reaching the front, only to find out that the item you had come to collect/buy wasn't in stock - and there was no way of checking beforehand, because nobody ever answered the phone.

The situation was untenable, so I switched to an online pharmacy for prescriptions - and now buy all non-prescription stuff, toiletries etc either from the supermarket or online.

Lloyds is now Allied which is a separate chain to Boots. One of the suppliers is Alliance which is a wholesaler which also supplies Boots. I checked all this on the internet to make sure.

Hopefully now the changeover to the new owners has finally happened then stock will get to where it should be and the prescription issues will cease, especially as it appears that they were unable to order stock for the shop for months.

Anon, please stand corrected. The pharmacy in Liphook is Allied Pharmacy, not Alliance Pharmacy.

It’s a tricky thing for a pharmacy to close one day and open up 24/48 hours later under new ownership. They have new systems that need to be integrated and all the while they continue to receive new scripts from GP surgeries. Please give them a chance.
