Fire in Radford Park - Editor (10th Jan 2024 - 13:37:47)
It's been reported that there is a large unattended bonfire in Radford Park. Will this have been started by the council ?
Any ideas ?

This fire was set by our grounds staff and there is no need for any concern.

There's a posting currently on this site complaining about people using woodburning stoves. Used properly, with the correct fuel (dry wood), these produce very little pollution apart from a few minutes after lighting.
Yet the council can burn rubbish on open bonfires for 3 days, and an 'official' states that there is no problem in doing this.
Waste from parks and gardens can be composted or turned into wood chips for fuel which can be burnt cleanly in power stations to provide energy. Why isn't the council doing this? (I think I know the answer).

‘Why aren’t the council doing this?’ Because we the electorate keep voting for the party (both nationally and locally) that promise to cut our taxes! So they are skint! We only have ourselves to blame!

I do not think the Parish Council is short of money they have 500k or more in reserved funds. Probably no one could be bothered more likely.

Should the Liphook and Bramshott Council be letting their workers light a bonfire and leave it unattended. I don't think so.
