Log Burner Installation
- Anne (17th Jan 2024 - 09:08:12)

We are purchasing a log burner via a company we have found on the internet (cheaper than we can by locally). Can anyone recommend someone who is qualified to install it?

Many thanks

We've used Stacks and Stoves for sweeping our existing stove:

Very cheeky normal practice is to find a good installer and he would supply at a reasonable price to offset the the price of putting in a liner in the chimney. Bit like buying a service kit for your car of eBay and then asking a garage to service your car

Local,
Not cheeky at all, they will still charge for the installation but not the mark up on the log burner, which they pass on to the customer even though they will get it at the same price as off the internet. Nothing wrong with shopping around.

Ideally you should use a registered installer, who can commission and certify their own work, otherwise it could be a bit of a faff getting building regs approval retrospectively - and there's a risk of having to make inconvenient or disruptive modifications after the installation if it turns out not to be compliant.

Have a look on the HETAS website for details of local registered installers.

I used Stacks and Stoves. Liam helped me choose a log burner and then gave me some options about where to buy it direct from the supplier. He did everything else including supplying and fitting the flue, setting up the log burner and then gave more advice about how best to light and maintain it. I couldn’t rate him highly enough and he is a local chap too!
