Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- AF (21st Jan 2024 - 09:41:35)

Isn't it about time for Sainsbury's in liphook to remove the silly plastic screens around the tills.

Why?

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- AR (21st Jan 2024 - 10:50:02)

Should never have been put up. Like those little germs couldn't just wriggle around those edges. Daft.

Hi,
Can help staff not pick-up Winter customer viruses at check-outs.

AF, you appear to still be damaged by your COVID experiences, most of us have moved on!

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys

Hi,
Covid 19, people are still contracting the disease.
There other illnesses like Influenza, and other respiratory viruses
circulating.

Good luck to all Sainsbury's staff's health with protection.

@ Ian.
So funny. Damaged, no. Could you not tell I am laughing at the insanity of screens. Never tested, never vaccinated, never had "covid". Walked around without a mask. Didn't fall for the hysteria.

AR hysterical 233,791!

Hi A R,
Let hope when your health has a turn for the worse, compared to others, you find it so amusing!

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- Joe (21st Jan 2024 - 17:21:29)

Covid also had a knock on effect at the time - those denied early diagnosis and treatment for cancers etc who could not get appts and beds due to covid. A relative of mine died so I do not find the blasé attitude towards covid very amusing. A R you were very lucky or you could have been a carrier and spread covid around without knowing.

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- AF (21st Jan 2024 - 20:58:09)

Ian, I have moved on from COVID which is why the screens should go. Like AR I also thought they were pointless in the first place, oh and I had COVID twice, it's not that dangerous.

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- Ian (21st Jan 2024 - 21:22:33)

@AF, not that dangerous unless you were one of the 200,000 plus that died. You were a thoughtless ass during the pandemic and it appears that trait is still running strong now

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- passfield resident (22nd Jan 2024 - 10:06:54)

Ian-couldn't have put it better myself. Well said.

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- AF (24th Jan 2024 - 15:24:55)

I am truly sorry if i have upset anyone with my comments that COVID was not that dangerous. However i stand by my comments and i will briefly explain why.

The raw number of people who died with COVID over the 2 years when the condition was in circulation of 200,000+ seems high, but consider the fact that without COVID in that same 2 year period we would expect 1.2 - 1.4 Million deaths. Also when you consider the population of the UK is around 70 million people a virus that kills 200,000 is not as deadly as the hysterical media were making out.

Also the number of deaths from COVID are highly dubious, the figure is anyone who died within 30 days of a COVID test, so if you had COVID and then were killed by any other means you would be counted in the figures.

But to get back to the original point of this thread the screens were for COVID which has now gone so lets ditch the screens, other shops have, come on Sainsburys get a grip.

Hi,
Whilst I understand your justification of not liking screens at Sainsburys Liphook, I do not agree.

General disease in the U.K. is rife, not least now Measles.

Many years ago we had screens in front of us when we went to banks, for security.

When conducting one's shopping a small object between customer and staff members, should not be a worry.

The benefits are many...

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- Joe (24th Jan 2024 - 20:13:39)

I do not know where you get your statistics from AF but there were millions affected by covid- the knock on effects of not getting hospital treatments for other illnesses caused premature deaths plus if someone had a compromised immune system they were more susceptible to catch covid and be seriously ill. Long covid is still affecting people.

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- AF (25th Jan 2024 - 13:57:06)

Joe - Not sure what your issue is with my figures they come from the National Statistics office and are facts not opinions. I do accept that COVID is a real condition and you can be very unwell if you catch it, I know the first bout of COVID I had I was very unwell, but like 99.5% of people who caught the virus I recovered.
You see Joe despite what the media were trying to portray the first variant of the virus, which was the most dangerous, with minimal treatment, just oxygen had a mortality rate of just 0.5% and as new less dangerous variants came through and more treatments became available this figure dropped.
Yes, I accept some people did succumb to the virus but most, not all, had other conditions as well and COVID was not the sole reason for their death.
And although there is long COVID it is rare and most people who had COVID like me have fully recovered.
For me to be worried about a virus or pandemic it would need to be a mortality of 25%plus and attack the young and healthy equally with the elderly and unwell. I really sincerely hope this does not happen after the sort of panic we had with COVID.
My point is all measures taken to fight COVID which were mostly pointless anyway should be dispensed with.

It appears AF that you want to continue this thread on talkback...If you feel that strongly about the screens in any way why don't you just speak to the manager at the store and get a direct response.

Re: Plastic screens at Sainsburys
- passfield resident (25th Jan 2024 - 15:29:22)

AF. For someone who dismisses covid (in one post you called it "covid" in inverted commas) you are remarkably expert. As for you saying you are sorry if you offended anyone, you don't seem to understand what constitutes being offensive and I don't thiink you are sorry at all. We knew someone in good health in his forties who died solely from covid. It must have been heartbreaking for his family. Fortunately they are unlikely to have read your pathetic posts.

- Mary W (25th Jan 2024 - 22:53:11)

Think it could have been AR with the inverted commas..,
