Maybe too late for you but the ranges are open this weekend. The website for range firing information is usually updated around the 20th of each month. Sometimes you have to scroll down as they add on the next month after the existing month. Hope that helps.

Can you cycle to the Ranges from Longmoor Road, what is the best cycle route, I did read there was a route to the right before the flyover but not yet found it, the cycle path along the A3 doesn't really appeal!

Cycle down Longmoor Road from Liphook, just past the entrance to Old Thorns on the right hand side is a hill. You'll have to climb over the style, proceed up the hill to a footbridge over the A3, follow the footpath until you reach a track, turn left and about 10 metres away is a gate to the disused railway line.

You will need a mountain bike or a gravel bike. Once in you can head clockwise towards Longmoor and Liss or anticlockwise to Bordon and Greatham.

You will definitely need a bike capable of off road riding to access the route described by the previous contribution. However, unlike many users, there is no need to lift the bike over a style. This short section of the route is not officially a bridle path and is a discretionary footpath. The actual bridle path entrance is before the Old Thorns turn off, on the right side just after the daft chicanes to slow traffic down entering and leaving Liphook where the 30mph limit starts. Keep a close eye to the right for the small gap in the trees. This is a nice route through the trees running parallel to Longmoor Rd but it does become muddy before the right turn onto the main path leading up the hill to the footbridge. There is no style on this route. PS this route is marked on ordnance survey maps but is difficult to find.

Yes, as described previously there is no need to go over the style and you can turn off earlier.

I tend not to use that route though as I've often found it very boggy.

But why not give both a go and see which you prefer.
