ATTACK
- Rachel Rabbit (7th Mar 2024 - 21:55:55)

I can not believe this has happened.
Yesterday around 2.pm I was walking my daughters little dog along Portsmouth road, just past the zebra crossing.
I was the only walking along when a silver van I believe, slowed down beside me and threw some sort of irritant liquid over my upper body and face!
I rushed home and washed my face immediately. I called 101 to report it and police and ambulance attended me.
I am in total shock and dumfounded as to this senseless act.
Apart from some redness and soreness to the left side of my face (thankfully I was wearing sunglasses) I am physically ok.
Please be careful out there, there are some mad people about.

Really sorry to hear this Rachel - that sounds horrendous - and thanks for the warning.
I hope you're feeling better and your face has healed.
Take care.

Rachel

I am so saddened to read this, what an awful thing to happen.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Rachel - so sorry to hear this. Some people are just awful. I also wish you a speedy recovery.

Re: ATTACK
- Sam (11th Mar 2024 - 23:17:40)

Whilst I welcome the wishes of being careful out there am not sure being careful would have prevented what happened given you described it as random and unprovoked.

Hopefully you reported it to the Police as reminding the rest of us to be careful isn’t going to protect us from a passing car throwing something at us unless we permanently avoid all pavements near roads.

Re: ATTACK
- passfield resident (12th Mar 2024 - 10:00:44)

Sam-why are you compelled to add random nonsensical comments to threads?

Re: ATTACK
- Steve Cooke (12th Mar 2024 - 17:32:59)

Sam-why are you compelled to add random nonsensical comments to threads? BECAUSE IT IS A PUBLIC FORUM THAT IS OPEN FOR ALL TO DEBATE.

What is odd is how little comment there has been on this awful occurrence! Topics of little importance can get hoard of contributions yet something utterly horrifying that could have happened to any of us gets minimal interaction

Re: ATTACK
- Sam (12th Mar 2024 - 18:24:52)

I see a comment mentioning my name but my mind is unable to read the rest of that comment as the poster hides their identity therefore my mind ignores it. I don’t read comments from aliases, if you can’t be honest and use your real name then don’t expect to be considered legitimate or important.

Just like the original post, am not sure this even happened, yet many people come back with oh bless hope your ok, yes that is the correct sentiment but it doesn’t add up, if the substance was truely an irritant then lasting damage would have been done. If the attack was truely random then call the police (no mention of police at all) then to conclude the advise is “be careful” how can being careful stop this happening ?

Am not saying it didn’t happen, but am entitled to have questions, because if the same thing happened to me or anyone I know I think the post would have been very different.

I could create an alias, tell you a fictional story that I tripped on a fictional pavement and hurt myself and like a bunch of lap dogs you all jump in with a “oh bless” which is madness.
What happened to the orignal poster is very serious, it’s so serious it causes anxiety about safety in our village so it’s correct that someone asks the massively obvious question (did you call the police) instead we are told to (be careful) which prevents nor solves anything

Re: ATTACK
- CT (12th Mar 2024 - 20:27:10)

The post states 101 call ambulance and police atteneded

Re: ATTACK
- Jon (12th Mar 2024 - 20:32:42)

I think all this pent up anxiety is affecting your ability to read Sam. Rachel said in the opening paragraph she called 101 and Police & Ambulance attended to her needs and presumably gave details of the attack. Doh!

Re: ATTACK
- passfield resident (12th Mar 2024 - 20:36:03)

Sam-I don't use my real name because there are some strange people around who get lost in this online world and start to become unbalanced. Of course, you won't have been able to read this again, I'm forgetting.

Re: ATTACK
- Joe (12th Mar 2024 - 21:19:42)

How do we know Sam is your real name? Anything which reddens the skin is not good and classed as an attack on the person? Police and ambulance attended.

Re: ATTACK
- Rachel Rabbit (13th Mar 2024 - 22:28:29)

Thank you to everyone who has wished me well, it has been a terrifying experience.
I am very surprised anyone would think I had made this up! Indeed Police attended and an investigation is currently underway. I have an incident number if you really want to check it out!
The Ambulance was called by the police.
I reported this horrifying occurrence on this platform to warn my fellow Liphook neighbours , not to start a debate.
Thank you again for the well wishes and I am happy to report that all is well with me now physically.

Re: ATTACK
- Paul (14th Mar 2024 - 12:29:39)

RR, have you reported it to the media? I'd have thought they'd be interested, but haven't found anything online?

Re: ATTACK
- Rachel Rabbit (14th Mar 2024 - 19:43:57)

I had thought about it but decided to wait for the police to do their thing first. I reported it here and on Next door . com just to let the local community know of this danger.
I will inform the Herald once the police have finished investigating.
