Here is some more background on our speaker for 10th April. The meeting is open to members and non-members. There is a £5.00 charge for non members but if you pay £10 you can become a member on the evening.
David Rymill qualified as an archivist at Aberystwyth and has been one of the team of archivists at Hampshire Record Office in Winchester since 1993.
His responsibilities include dealing with copyright enquiries and secondments to look after the Winchester Cathedral and Highclere Castle archives.
He has loved maps since he was very young and feels very fortunate to work in an office where there are so many of them. In this talk he will speak about some of the main types of map that are likely to prove useful to local historians, and will show slides of maps from around Hampshire, including a few from our area. He hopes this will encourage us to visit the Record Office to discover more.
