Can anyone tell me why Passfield Common has such a high water table. and additionally is there any interesting biodiversity there.

Possibly not an answer to the question, but seems to me it rains more frequently and heavier rain than immediate surroundings.

Could be there is a clay layer blow the sand which prevents the water draining away. There are some interesting plants including sundews if you can find them.
