Why is EHDC doorstep recycling so minimal compared to our neighbouring councils at Chi and Waverley? The list of what you can't put in the bin is way longer than what you can.

Maybe ask Richard Millard? I suspect the answer is to do with cost.
Unfortunately there is a very high "contamination" rate with Hampshire recycling collections. I think a lot of people who have moved here from outside the area are probably not aware of the restrictions on recycling. Many people just chuck everything into the recycling bin if it has a recycling symbol on it.
I also suspect that many people who have previously lived in other areas might mistake the uses of the bin colours, as ours is Green = general waste and Black = recycling, which is different from most other districts.
East Hants is about to start attaching red flags to contaminated recycling bins and they will not be emptied until the contaminants have been removed.

Your points don't address my query at all Jen - which was why is EHDC so useless at helping its residents help the environment?
EHDC one of the most useless councils in the country - and they are all strapped for cash

Yes, Flags on Re-cycling bins containing contaminants.
Any idea how the collection operatives could ensure everything in the bin was approved other than tip the whole contents out and inspect it.
Another prime example of the EHDC's illogical mental functions funded by our cash.

I don't know but I do know that family who live elsewhere in Hampshire have the same list of items that can be recycled. I also know that they say many places n the country don't genuinely recycle all the stuff put in their recycling bins. I'm pretty sure I read Hampshire say that it has a smaller list of items that it genuinely will recycle. I don't know for sure. I do find the lack of plastics recycling surprising because a lot of clear plastic packaging is surely recyclable!

I did a survey on recycling several years ago and asked why certain things could not be recycled even though they were recyclable and was told that as E Hants were at the forefront of recycling most of the equipment was becoming outdated. Therefore the number of items which could be recycled was limited.
