Pilates or yoga?
- AA (15th Jun 2024 18:59:49)
Hi
Looking for a group beginners class... did pilates about 15 years ago for a while but not sure that counts!
More than happy to join a mixed age class of course but I'm in my late 30s so not wanting a class specifically meant for seniors!
Daytime is actually more doable right now but early evening may be possible.
Thanks

There are lots of great teachers in the area. Try Zannah Charman Lambert or Angela Thompson.

I go to a yoga class on Monday mornings at Millennium Centre at 9.30.
Slow and controlled moves, giving lots of stretch. Small class.
Rachael is a really lovely instructor.

Not sure, but perhaps one is a means of channeling Hindu or Buddhist religious energy while the other is a form of postural stretches practiced by mainly middle class westerners who find jogging a little too exerting and feel the need to do stretches in groups with someone wearing a mike shouting "up, lift higher girls, up, up hold, I said hold, hold and one two three shake it all out and breathe!" while bad 1990's music deafens everyone else within 100 yards :)

Staying true to the original method devised by Joseph Pilates Sublime Pilates offers Classical Reformer Pilates classes. These will connect you to your core, challenge your physical ability, strengthen and tone muscles you've never felt before whilst keeping your body aligned and supported. If you want to know more about the yoga vs. Pilates debate, do drop in for a FREE taster Reformer Pilates class offered by myself. I have been a teacher of both disciplines for over 20 years.
