London road closed to Liss until 4pm today - rachel (16th Aug 2024 - 11:20:11) I just spoke to the workmen. They say if it doesn’t rain, they should get all work completed on London Road to Liss by 4pm. Then they will re-open the road.

Re: London road closed to Liss until 4pm today - Truth (19th Aug 2024 - 17:50:09) I'm not an expert in road surfacing, but it looks as though our friends in Hampshire County Council have opted for the cheapest method of road repair - chip sealing. So we have a week or so of loose chippings, poor road surface, speed restrictions (which are often ignored), maybe a cracked windscreen. And it won't last, as one winter later the potholes and cracks will be back (I offer the road from Radford Park over the A3 as a permanent example to this). If you go to East Africa, South-East Asia or Eastern Europe you will very often find beautiful, smooth stretches of asphalt. We are now a third-world country in terms of our infrastructure. Nearly everywhere else is better.
