New ‘classic quote’ designer wall hangings celebrate britishness with wit and style
Bramshott, Hants, 4 October 2011 – Hampshire-based design company Love Being British is today
launching a range of stylishly-presented wall hangings that celebrates the wit, wisdom and
eccentricities of this great nation through classic British quotations and sayings.
The Love Being British range includes over 25 great British phrases that capture the wry humour,
self-deprecation and decorum that are so uniquely British. Whether it is the historic (‘England
Expects Every Man Will Do His Duty’), the domestic (‘I Love My Aga’) or the comic (‘More Tea
Vicar?’), Love Being British has the perfect quote for any proudly British home.
Having chosen one or more classic quotes from the Love Being British website
(www.lovebeingbritish.co.uk), customers can select from multiple Union Flag-themed designs and
frame sizes to create their ideal handmade wall hanging. All Love Being British framed quotations
are produced to order and beautifully presented, using materials sourced exclusively within Great
Britain. Prices for framed quotations start at £11.95 plus postage and packing.
Love Being British founder Becks Fairhurst says: “With our famous reserve and understatement, Brits
often feel awkward celebrating ‘Britishness’. But we have so much in our country to crow about:
whether it is the Booker Prize, the Olympics or a decent pint of IPA at the local pub, Britain has a hugely rich culture that is the envy of the world. I think we all know this, but wouldn’t dream of
shouting about it. So, instead, I had an idea for a quieter, rather ‘British’ way of bragging, which is
through these wonderful quotes that pepper our history and language.”
Becks, [31], found her inspiration shortly after the arrival of her second child in late 2010. While
sitting in Petersfield registry office, she saw some wonderful wording [Marriage according to the law of this country is the union of one man with one woman, voluntarily entered into for life, to the exclusion of all others] that was beautifully typeset and framed, which dramatically increased its impact. She decided she had to have something like it at home and, with that germ of an idea, Love Being British was born.
According to Becks, trial marketing of her quotations range has met with a fantastic response: “I
knew I loved these quotations, but had no idea if others would agree. So, I booked a stall at a craft
fair near Chichester in August, and sold out of my entire stock within a few hours. Now, I am
ramping up production and am on mission to spread the Great British Love, one quote at a time!”
