Excited for the budget?
- Truth (18th Oct 2024 - 11:23:01)

How are we feeling, ahead of the Labour Govt's budget in a little over a week's time?

If we allow ourselves to be described as a semi-rural town that likely relies on cars more than a fully urban environment, how do people feel about the news that the Chancellor may be aiming to remove the fuel duty freeze, triggering a 7p per litre increase in petrol and diesel?

Worst government ever they keep giving money to the people that don’t need it pushed by unions . Then have the neck to say the black hole is bigger they really are having a laugh haven’t got a clue . Yes they are going to hammer us the good working people. Perhaps we should all become civil servants.

Let's not forget the many freebies our Dear Leader and his minions have amassed - despite their statements on the steps of No10 that they were dedicating themselves to transparency and public service.

Taylor Swift tickets, anyone?

I'd rather watch Taylor Swift than Arsenal

Election losers still having a moan? Don’t worry another election will be along in 4 years and you can put it all to rights

- Truth (21st Oct 2024 - 20:54:58)

Peter, no-one in this thread is moaning, and saying it doesn't mean they are either ... :)

Re: Excited for the budget?
- AF (22nd Oct 2024 - 10:54:29)

Labour = More taxes and a crashed economy.

This has always been the case. Unfortunately people forget this fact of life and vote Labour hoping they will change they don't and never will.

Only good news is that Starmer and cronies are making such a mess of everything that they will get turfed out at next election.

All ready for the money grab next week. Taken from the poor off and giving to the better off how does that work.

Re: Excited for the budget?

More excited about the news that more people crossed on boats this year already than last, it’s exciting to see the full delivery of all that control we all took back years ago, this extra sovereignty is really paying off

Re: Excited for the budget?
- Local (26th Oct 2024 - 13:07:55)

Paul that all down to this useless government all they want is more and more emigrants. So at the next election they will all vote labour we are doomed unless we can remove this lot . Brexit gave us the opportunity but now this government are back tracking cosying up to the dreaded EU again.

Gareth J Rees showing how little socialist ideologues understand about free movement of capital and labour ...

*their taxes

Re: Excited for the budget?
- Realist (28th Oct 2024 - 13:00:57)

Funny old times. The Labour government as always want to penalise the people that create wealth. If you don’t have wealth in the country people willing to run business and employ thousands we all suffer. The unions don’t see it that way all the do is ruin company’s until they go bust then everyone is out of work. We must support the people that create wealth willing to put their money where their mouth is they deserve to prosper not the greedy unions. We are losing companies fed up being penalised they are relocating abroad this government will bankrupt us .

Gareth has often shown his archaic left wing prejudices and politics of envy, at least he is not a champagne socialist!!

Unfortunately for most of us the current political crop on all sides of the political spectrum are not fit for purpose. (the Libs Dems being the worst of the bunch!)

Re: Excited for the budget?
- M (29th Oct 2024 - 08:42:25)

I do find it strange when people say "It will be lovely to see the rich paying there taxes".
Who do you class as "the rich"?
People who have an income that's more than yours?
People who earn/joint income of £50000 a year, £100000?
People who own a house worth £750000?
The above figures are not rich people, and there's plenty of them around here, but they do pay a fortune in tax already and will, I suspect, end up paying a lot more.
The super wealthy do pay a massive tax burden already (not just income tax but all types of taxation, including the 20% vat on all the things they buy!) but if they are hit even harder they will find ways of reducing their tax bill or, I suspect, leave the country entirely......resulting in less tax generated.
The average man and woman in the street, earning similar figures to the above with a house worth £500000/£750000 are the people who this government are going to hit hard. Just the sort of people who work hard and try to better themselves.
The sort of people this country needs and relies on!

Well said M spot on .

Re: Excited for the budget?

The international corporations are the ones that should be targeted. Too often with a head office address in Dublin they can avoid paying their fair share when a small company registered here gets taxed to the hilt. The large corporations can employ international taxation lawyers who advise to put all the profits offshore.

Get your wallet out boys.

It's about time you lot paid your way. Hiding behind your Daily Mail and foaming at the mouth at immigration.

Rachel is coming for you.

- Tax payer (30th Oct 2024 - 10:25:03)

Well Gareth hope you have deep pockets she’s targeting everyone that’s working that’s if your working maybe you’re one of the none workers on benefits.

Re: Excited for the budget?
- Truth (30th Oct 2024 - 14:56:32)

Gareth - while you are still here, and not asking for your posts to be deleted when someone points out that in 2023 over 97% of Whitehill rejected you outright ... a simple question.

What's a working person?

Re: Excited for the budget?
- Charlie (30th Oct 2024 - 16:10:40)

Not even Keir Starmer can answer that one. The definition for a working person seems to be:

People in the Public Sector
People who belong to Trade Unions (not all Public Sector Workers belong to Trade Unions).
People on the minimum wage.
Sorry if I have left anyone out.

People who not classed as working people are:

Self employed
Employers

Well this government are tearing the country apart. The farmers today said it all this government has no idea punishing the hand that feeds us . They should be helping the farmers to produce more get all their land in production not set aside giving them more subsidies so we don’t have to import so much.

Re: Excited for the budget?
- Charlie (20th Nov 2024 - 14:06:12)

I wonder what gareth j rees thinks of the government now. He normally has a lot to say but has been very quiet lately! So far this government have paid off the train drivers and the doctors, taxed small/medium/large business with the rise in National Insurance Tax and that coupled with raising the minimum wage thus ensuring price rises, redundancies and some businesses facing closure. Plus the "unkindest cut of all" taxing the farmers by including them in Inheritance Tax which will bring in a very small amount of revenue. Well done Sir Kier Communist Starmer.
