Argos - Sainsbury's
- PR (23rd Oct 2024  16:03:51)

What an environmental disgrace.

The skip, at the end of the car park which is in an area cordoned off for material and plant storage during the construction of the Argos unit, is now full to the top with brand new unused items including three pin electrical sockets, aluminium shelf components, building tapes, stainless steel fixings, plastic piping to name but a few.

I expressed my dismay to a representative of Argos who was on site today, her reply, ' Don't worry, it is all going back to our depot to be sorted out'

Good luck with that, any fragile items at the lower levels will be either contaminated with waste or damaged. The whole effigy is topped off with a palette. And, as uncovered if it rains before collection ...

Do take a look if passing.

We will be posting a photograph on social media.

Sounds just like the waste in the NHS.
Throw away society on warp speed now.

You mean you didn't realise the modern consumer society is built upon excess and waste? You really thought that everything arriving in the many thousands of containers that arrive in the UK daily go to a loving home to be cherished and repaired and passed onto future generations?

You didn't realise these things are churned out in their billions and cost retailers pennies and the cost of returning them usually exceeds the cost of dumping them?

Short of going back in time 100 years when our grandparents had the same coat till the day they died, or some banal sentiment about sending stuff we don't need to an African village (which would be patronising since Africa is also sinking in cheap Asian tat) do you have any alternative to the capitalist system and it's marketing dream?

What an interesting critique of modern society. Down with skips! Let's put it on wheels and enter it to the carnival.
