Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council (24th Oct 2024 - 08:18:01) Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council are delighted that the community voted in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan and thank you to everyone who came out to vote yesterday. We now need to wait for the Plan to be formally made by East Hampshire District Council at their next full Council meeting in November. At that point, the Neighbourhood Plan will be used as a statutory planning document by EHDC and SDNPA when making decisions about planning applications in our parish. As a sustainable settlement, we will be allocated sites for development in the future. The Neighbourhood Plan now gives the community a way to have influence over the nature of development and its associated impact. It will ensure the type of housing and tenure provided is appropriate to its setting and to secure appropriate community and environmental benefits. We will also now receive 25% of Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy which will directly go towards improvements in our parish. Thank you to stakeholders and residents who have come along to events and consultations during the process and provided their views and insight which have contributed to the development of the plan. Most importantly, we would like to give sincere thanks to the past and present members of our community who formed the steering group to formulate the Neighbourhood Plan. Over the 7 years the Plan has been in the making, there have been many residents who have got involved and worked extremely hard using their expertise and/or local knowledge to investigate options, formulate policies and work with both East Hampshire District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority. The Parish Council is confident that the Neighbourhood Plan will bring benefit to the parish through implementation of the policies relating to housing, environment, traffic, heritage, community facilities and the economy. Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - Joe (24th Oct 2024 - 11:01:41) Congratulations for getting your plan through despite those who wanted a more complicated and long winded route taken which may have been unacceptable to both local authorities.

Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - M (24th Oct 2024 - 16:25:55) Strangely I too agree with "Joe", well done for getting it through, although disappointed with the 14% turnout (interested to know the actual numbers that voted Yes compared to the total number eligible). Not withstanding it won't have any impact on what and where development takes place in Liphook. Why didn't the Steering Group bite the bullet, say no to us nay sayers and ask for a housing number from both authorities and generate a true Development Plan for Liphook. Anyway 10% extra CIL money to the PC, what they wanted all along anyway.

Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - Joe (24th Oct 2024 - 17:30:58) Thanks M, I think the neighbourhood plan steering group did request a housing number but were told that EHDC had already allocated all that was required at the time into their own potential plan. Any housing number given to the steering group would have added to the amount planned, also now everything is up in the air and the government have added at least 50 percent more to calculations. Both planning authorities are delaying their plans to take account of this. Had a look at the SDNPA timeline they are not expected to finish evaluating all potential sites until next year now. I think EHDC have also pressed pause.

Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - Ian (24th Oct 2024 - 18:21:30) My wife and I were 2 of the people who didn't vote, I asked several times what we were voting for and never got a plain simple answer, so didn't bother!

Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - Editor (24th Oct 2024 - 19:13:51) *** updated *** In 2023 the electorate was quoted as 7,354 So 14.7% equates to 1081 votes, of which approximately 940 were YES votes.

So that means 6000 [voting age] residents thought it not worthwhile voting just wondering why that was if it was so important. Perhaps the hundreds of people that turned out in the first instance to put their thoughts as to where things should go were very disappointed with the present plan.

Also, as a Liphook resident and so a member of the neighbourhood, I wish to say thanks to anyone who voted, whether for or against. Having made a reasonable attempt at reading the plan, I understand the frustrations of some who wanted a simple explanation of what it is they were voting on. Alas some things cannot be summarised into a simple sentence but are what they are. One resident might be interested in affordable housing, another in preserving the look of the Square or another the need for cycle routes. How then would you summarise since every individual will have different interests.

Re: Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result - LC Jamison (25th Oct 2024 - 19:11:00) I'll admit I voted because of having been given the option to vote. Finding the information on what we were actually voting for though was not conclusive, (believe me I did try to find accurate information,) so I voted no as there was not clear information on what I would have been saying yes for.
