Liphook Carnival
- Jezz (27th Oct 2024 - 06:27:55)

I would like to congratulate the New Carnival committee on a wonderful carnival last night. This year I had a year off from being in it and took my great Nephews and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were many more people watching, lots of smiling faces and good to see new people taking part and the weather was very warm and dry for this time of year.

Looking forward to next year!!

Well done

Jazz,
Totally agree, the committee even got the weather right. Congratulations to all involved and to all those who turned out in support.

Thanks to all those litter picking through the village early this morning, you people are great.

Really enjoyed carnival. Thanks to all who organised.

Just out of interest (as a keen litter picker) is there a clean-up plan? There was a fair amount of litter around the village.

At least the weather was kind although number of floats somewhat disappointing. This event really has run out of steam and needs a reboot. (and no, I couldn’t do better, not my forte but as a resident I am happy to contribute an opinion)

A fabulous carnival night. Many thanks to the carnival committee for all their hard work .

The community spirit was lovely but the number of floats was disappointing and the fireworks were a big disappointment. All just a bit of a letdown:-(

A big let down for you Ian but by the reports and faces of the people and children it was a great success. I didn’t see the fireworks but a friend did he said the were fantastic so Ian totally different opinions. Seems by your posts that you’re not a fan of the carnival perhaps next year you should give it a miss or better still join in and enjoy yourself.

I thought it was as good as ever and the floats/bands were great. The fireworks were fabulous, definitely no complaints here.

Well done to all involved.

I have been attending and helping out (although not recently as old age has set in) the carnival for 40+ years but this year myself and many friends thought it was a nice event although as previously mentioned, the lack of floats makes us wonder if the carnival will survive. Fireworks were also not as impressive as years gone by although I suspect there were more financial constraints this year.

It seems to me the newbies & youngsters like to attend (a free night out laid on by others) but are just not willing to contribute time and effort....a sign of the times. I understand from one of the volunteers, contributions in the buckets we well down this year. Despite this, thank you to the organisers for at least trying to keep the carnival going

Sadly, I'm in agreement with those who felt the carnival was a little disappointing, especially when compared with how it used to be.
