Benefit Payments
- Salty (29th Oct 2024  10:15:45)

On the BBC News on line today, there is an article about ' Making ends meet on £ 1800 a month, How will the budget effect you'

In this article a person is featured who is unemployed - and gets £ 33000 solely from benefits per annum, yes £ 33000 .......

Is that the severely disabled lady who can no longer work because she has an illness that makes her joints break or dislocate?

OK it sounds a lot till you realise it includes her rent and disability benefit to enable her to buy aids to move about which she says even with that she can t afford as half of it goes on rent alone, then there's heating, food, etc, but if we really want to get upset we should add in she probably is exempt from council tax, prescription costs etc, as she is renting she won't have to buy buildings insurance, pay for roof or boiler repairs, redecorate, you name it, she must be living the high life....not, would we trade places with her, that's the real question?

That being said there are a great many people claiming benefits that should be working. The benefit system needs a complete overhaul.
